    1971 Maytag Porta-Washer M0D. A50

Hi Chris Google retrobrite or retrobriting. It essentially uses hydrogen peroxide and UV to whiten. We’ve done a fair bit with Apple IIe cases. Cheers Nathan

How to Disassemble Miele T1 Heatpump Dryer

Thanks Rich, I got there in the end, but it turns out mine is new enough that there is no finned condenser grill there like I was expecting. I dont know if that's a generational thing, or if its a model spec thing. They've removed the need to clean it but have replaced the grill with a couple...

How to Disassemble Miele T1 Heatpump Dryer

I've recently picked up a second hand Miele WDB130 Heatpump dryer, that is taking way too long to dry and not completely drying. With the earlier generation, the fix has been to remove the front and clean the secondary condenser, that then fixes the issue. The challenge I have with the T1's is...

    Induction gets even cheaper

I've been curious about the air fry ovens with full convection. How much mess does putting oiled food in a mesh basket and then running the oven actually make? My older Miele offers similar with the perforated bread trays and the usual fan forced settings, but I've never used the perforated...

I bet and lost; Goodbye Fridgidaire All Fridge

Over here now , the bulk of our appliances come out of Thailand. At least what we would’ve referred to as the domestic brands. I was on the fence about buying it, our smaller chest freezer was locally made and had a Panasonic compressor, so it’ll still probably be running in another 20 years...

I bet and lost; Goodbye Fridgidaire All Fridge

The Electrolux/Westinghouse refrigeration has the same reputation here. I replaced our chest freezer with a bigger Westinghouse upright about 13 months ago. It works well, but they all have a reputation for refrigerant leaks that render them not economical to repair. I just upped our home...

Lowes to begin sselling a few select Miele

I wonder if they'll carry stock, or if it'll still be where you order and Miele deliver? Low end Appliance Stores over here stock Miele now, but its still the Agency model where you purchase from Miele and Miele deliver.

What is this on the compressor (referigerator)

They're also blocked from AU and we're not natively covered by GDPR. So I'm assuming is just geolocation based, rather than legislative.

KDD-67 Hobart Deluxe Portable--Soap door does not open

Is it just me, or isn't the key here that the spring is no longer working on the doors? Doesnt the bimetallic just release the door and then the spring snaps it open?

    New Whirlpool Full Sized Combo

Whirlpools website is atrocious. I love how under the quick wash section, its showing a dishwasher rack. The spin speed label is in french, plus its showing a full size combo washer dryer as only needing 1100watts. Is this a heat pump or are the specs wrong?

Look at the Little Electric Range Near the Start of This

Those were pretty common here for a long time. Generally you either had lower cabinets built underneath so the job was at counter level, or you could buy matching metal cabinets that they sat on, to replace a wood burning range or to fit in a kitchen without built ins. My mums parents did this...

Why do all newer transmission made Speed Queens low speed spin drain after main wash?

The less water extracted, the less water needs to be added to the rinse, which doesn’t help rinsing performance, but does reduce water consumption.

    A Kenwood-Kenmore Elite?

When did production of these get outsourced to China? Mum has that generation from the early naughties and its Chinese made.

    Whirlpool rebuild completed

Congrats on getting it finished. From cold, it generally will take a couple of hours to 60degC. I ran the calculator below to show how long it should likely take. The heater worked much better to boost the temp rather than to heat it from cold. 2400 watts can only do so much.

1971 Easy Dry Automatic Deluxe upright dryer - free, Sydney Australia

Hi Melvin This is a nice piece of history, but as a clothes dryer they were inefficient, slow and dangerous. By the late 70s, my grandfather was collecting them from the dump, removing the heater unit, installing shelves and turning them into cupboards. Clothing quite often could end up stiff...

Anybody else remember what Westinghouse used to be?

Not really. Other than fridges and cooking appliances, Westinghouse has just been a brand since the 70s. Their washers, dishwashers and dryers were all just rebadges since then. The cooking and refrigeration was great, but nothing else was particularly special. I’d still like to get my hands...

    Induction, baby!

I agree with John L, I dont baby our Induction cooktop and regularly have 5gal pots on there that slide around, with a mix of stainless and cast iron. I slide stuff all the time and after 6 years there are no marks. Have you tried a razor blade scraper to confirm that its a scratch and not...

    Super surgilator not coming off

It’s a pity if you’ve wrecked the agitator, because that was a beautiful machine. Did the bolt come out of the agitator cap? If it has, you need to take the bolt out of the top of the agitator. To get mine off, I set a fan heater up on the side of the machine and pointed it at the centre of...

Help! 1978 Maytag A208 knocking during agitation.

@dan, how does the timer cause agitation during spin? If the tub is spinning and agitating, the motor is obviously turning the right way to release the brake. If it was agitating rather than spinning that makes more sense
