New compact P&G powders for the UK and new Unilever Persil Naturals range

I noticed people are wishing we still had compact powders here, well your prayers have been answered! From Marketing Week: Procter & Gamble is poised to introduce compact versions of its laundry detergent formats across all brands. The decision means fillers will be removed from powders...

Which? Detergent Tests 30°C Jan 2009

What exactly are people doing with it that means it doesn't work?! Or is it just a general dislike for P&G products? ;-) It cleans wonderfully well at any temperature. No gimmicks whatsoever. If it was all mouth and no trousers I doubt they would have the gall to make some of the claims that...

Which? Detergent Tests 30°C Jan 2009

Thanks David! I remember you mentioning that they were testing it. Not surprising that it won - it's still my favourite detergent too. Considering what they say about the Bio version being good for colours I wonder if there's much difference from the Colour version? I know the ingredients...

    Now Lets just be honest

I hope they mean the lips on their faces. :)

    Finish Quantum released in US

They are awful in our Bosch too. The film they are encased in would often be found stuck to plates and any plastics in the load afterwards. The packaging is dreadful as well!

A British Institution in administration :(

As far as I know, Woolworths in Australia has never had anything to do with the US/UK company, they just copied the name.

A British Institution in administration :(

Seamus Yes I'm old enough to remember those! :-) It's still a dump! I remember our Woolies had a deli counter when I was a kid but still, I don't know why anyone would shop in Woolies these days - they are just horrible.

    It's a dump. Good riddance!

Balls that you put in the dryer

I don't believe the claim that they cut drying time, however they do make towels feel softer and fluffier without adding softener.

    Ariel v. Tide

Launderess, ta luv! I take it they don't promote this Ariel then? Is it a bit like US Bold in that respect? I did see a small box of Ariel when I was in NY, next to the usual Tide etc., in a small grocery store. It looked like the old design UK packaging, but I just assumed it was Mexican as...

    Ariel v. Tide

    There's a US Ariel?!

Made in Germany - Clean and Fresh

They've ditched Comfort Creme in the UK now, the Naturals range replaced it.

    Longest running detergent scents

I love those! How old are they, 1989/90-ish? The Persil one looks like the Small & Mighty caps. The old P&G ones look really funky! ;-)

    Now Let's Talk About Planes/Airlines

In the UK our "flag carrier" British Airways no longer serves Britain! It's a few weeks now since they scrapped their final long haul flight outside of London (Manchester to New York JFK). Luckily we still have Delta and Continental (for now at least) to take the rest of us non-Londoners us over...

    Longest running detergent scents

Oh yes the new blue Breath Of Fresh Air Lenor is my current fave too. I hate those other infusions ones (black diamond etc. that match the new Bold scents), but all 3 of the new ones are nice. The blue one in particular has an amazingly long lasting scent that isn't trying to smell like cheap...

    What (UK) detergent to snatch?

No we don't have Tide in the UK. It was phased out here be the early 80s. (I think!) Ariel is P&G's main brand here. Some European countries (and others) sell both, but Tide is usually the slightly cheaper brand.

    What (UK) detergent to snatch?

Bold spa minerals - the blue 'un is the best! Tablets and the liquid (original, not the new 2x concentrate - which smells like Ariel 2x liquid) have the most fantastic scents, really classic!

    What (UK) detergent to snatch?

Bold powders are white with pink & blue coloured flecks in, although those new infusions ones are coloured. The Jasmine one is completely pink!

    Fresh as a Daisy?

Seems like for the price, it did pretty well then! It's only about £2.50 a box isn't it? As for the gloopy conditioner, I find some Comfort and Lenor variants can be like that too - not many of them, just certain flavours. I wonder how good the colour version would be at cleaning and protecting...

    Fresh as a Daisy?

The Daisy softener is made by PLP too. I think PLP specialise in cheapo products only!
