Anyone have an upper trans housing I think John "Combo52" might have some that he salvaged. The tub bearing should probably be replaced unless in excellent condition and the wicking relubed with turbine oil.

Need help with 1980s Maytag LA710 Agitator Shaft is stuck

LA710 which has it's agitator shaft stuck. If you mean "stuck" as in seized and won't agitate you've got a problem as that would require a new donor trans or tracking down a new agitator shaft and refurbing the trans, both big jobs for a average DIY'er. If, on the other hand, the washer is...

Thats not a gasket, its simply there to protect the porcelain. Get a new stem and boot kit they are less than $60 on eBay, If the old reused stem starts leaking you'll have to do the whole job all over again, (hopefully before it does serious damage if not caught in time)...

    Real estate mess

If we don’t buy now, and just become priced out forever. Two RE stories with different endings: An ex-GF of mine had the same FOMO in early 2006, I tried to talk her out of it as it was very obvious housing was in a massive bubble but she didn't want to hear it. (The ironic thing was when RE...

    Real estate mess

2 bath home with a 3 car garage, it now takes over $250k You couldn't buy a shack in my area for $250K. If you plan on being in the house for a long time I wouldn't worry too much about future price swings.

What could be causing my Maytag A806 to do this?

I used black silicone adhesive, I wouldn't trust silicone RTV on damper pads, I've found it to be a poor bonding adhesive on some materials.

Orbital transmission oil & MT Dep Care rebuild

needs the 140 viscosity for quietness Where did you hear MT orbitals need 140 wt. oil? Factory trans oil were in the 90-100 wt. range. The old oil may seem like 140 wt. but that is due to age. Sta-Lube GL-4 85-90w oil is safe for MT transmissions.

    Real estate mess

A future nation of renters only? Thats what I'm seeing in my area. Thousands of ugly yet pricey rental units going up, likely to be filled with a generation of younger people resentful that they will never be able to afford a home of their own. The new construction single family homes that...

    Real estate mess

Prices seem to be selling for about the same as last year. With millions of illegal aliens pouring into the country outstripping the supply of new construction it doesn't look like prices aren't going to drop much in desirable areas...

then I scratched the front while moving it in. Hand trucking it on the side risks damaging the front panel squeezing through doorways with the machine sideways at it widest point, i.e. front to back.

Good find. BTW- I always lay the machines on the back side when transporting so any damage won't be seen, same goes when using a hand truck. As for what parts to save, just about everything that isn't worn out or rusted..

keeping an eye out for another machine Your time would be better spent rebuilding the machine you have IMO. Long stroke helical Maytags are few and far between these days. If you can get a new agitator shaft and have a willing machinist thats half the battle, plus you seem pretty familiar...
