Curious about Lidl DW detergent and fabric softener

Salt... I've only ever put salt in my dishwasher once in 20 years - big mistake. I'm in NW England - our water is ridiculously soft (you don't get any reaction on those strips to test it and we NEVER get limescale). Great on one hand, no marks on anything kitchen/bathroom or water related...

    Fabric softener question

As said Above - FS covers fabric is a layer of "grease" coating every fibre (hence makes it soft) so it will "fill" the microscopic holes in the fabric and will stop it from being "breathable". It won't "ruin" the item Per se, but it will instantly and immmeidately stop the moisture wicking...

    Bold "Tropical Orchard" Detergent

"this scent has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is near the point of extinction" Suppose this is the sellers "justification" for this silly price. Now this is where'd I kill to check the scent of this product to see if it's the same as the scent we have in pretty much the exact same...

Senses bio liquid and dishwasher tabs

Just looked On FB and yes it is the Muvo - looks like they've renamed the laundry liquid to match the softener name, but kept the powder and capsules as Muvo.

Senses bio liquid and dishwasher tabs

Is it The one under the Muvo brand - home bargains have stocked the laundry liquid for years. I have tried the non bio liquid once, was perfectly good and smelled quite nice too. If memory serves (was some years ago) it performed exactly as non bio liquid would be expected and was up there...

Interesting article on why you'll almost never see a...

Ah You're completely right laundress, won't work from link for me either, But if google search "brands that stop at the border" should be the first search link that comes up. Works every time for me that way.

:( Would it work from here instead of a link (I'm not a paid member of FT) got to admit the 2nd time I tried to load it, it wouldn't, but upon clearing history it worked (wonder if there is a view limit for ft website and cleaning history resets it?)...

    Some European washers and detergent

As Laundress says, Unilever use the brand names Persil, Skip, OMO or Surf in various countries depending on what is the strongest brand name. Eg, when Unilever had detergents in the US - they did Surf in the orange packages marketed for "dirt&odors" in the U.K, this exact same product...

    Cascade Complete Actionpacs horrible!!

Rinsing advice here is not to rinse at all, as Mark says, scrape yes, rinse never - negates any efficiency saving of having a dishwasher. Out of interest superocd - can you not get spotless results with any mass market available (not commercial/professional) detergent at all? Have never...

    surf gems

That's... Not good at all - I did use it on and off, but never consistently (I remeber buying some last year actually) always have a few different shampoos in the shower in our house - suppose I believe the myth of not getting hair used to one kind of shampoo. Have my faves but will switch it...

    surf gems

Oh dear. Not quite with it, are they?? Definitely not. Here are just some discrepancies Sun Dishwasher Detergent - only on the market in Ireland officially (can easily get it online here in U.K. , but won't find it with supermarkets as you would in Ireland). Timotei shampoos - discontinued...

Funny (to me anyway) conversation at Walmart

As.... An allergy sufferer - severe when it comes to dust. Bagged all the way for me. Just too much unsealed dust in a bagless. This matches the (shift back to) advice given over here in UK from various sources - Which? (CR) and electrical stores and online retailers; is you're an allergy...

    Cascade Complete Actionpacs horrible!!

@Rolls Yes the finish powder has gone (at least here in U.K.) I think (but could be wrong) you can still get the 10kg professional boxes of finish powder from Costco and Makro etc. But saying that, the new Gel in the squeezy bottles that replaced the liquid is actually very good - have used a...

    Cascade Complete Actionpacs horrible!!

That Fairy looks identical to action pacs. It has to be made "That Fairy looks identical to action pacs. It has to be made by P&G" They certainly are. P&G's dish offering over here are all under the Fairy Brand - there is also a laundry detergent range and a fabric softener range AND a stain...

    Cascade Complete Actionpacs horrible!!

Have A strong feeling that we have these in the U.K. under the Fairy Brand from P&G - scent name "Cool Blue" I currently am using these and you're right they remind me more of a laundry detergent than dish. Luckily my dishwasher does a decent job of rinsing so am surviving with them and...

How The Ballpoint Pen Killed Cursive

Interesting article, but the main point is absolute rubbish. I can write in perfect cursive with any writing implement, even a pencil.

    Let's Talk About Cottage Cheese!

*Am I not mistaking, Dear Laundress, but do the Brits call it Clotted Cream, now that sounds icky* No we don't, clotted cream is a completely different product and despite its name of clotted, the product itself isn't actually completely lumpy like cottage cheese (the crust at the top is and of...

Getting Ebac FL washer - made in the UK

RobM *They seem to rate Samsung highly and although I've never owned one, I've heard some very negative things about them from the washer community* You're not wrong there! Have had 2 Samsung washing machines - issues with them both - one was £1000+!!!!
