How is this possible? Is it possible?

I've seen that before, a GE I took on trade was that bad if not worse. Wrapped around all the suspension rods, motor pulley, and belt. That isn't what stopped it though, a sock in the drain pump brought it to a halt. I've never seen this on any other washer, and I've put large comforters in...

    Ants

Terro liquid baits ONLY. The small prefilled plastic ones that you cut one end open are the only ones that have ever worked for us.. Yes a little more expensive than the other ones but far more effective. The first year we lived here, I opened a box of cereal for breakfast and literally poured...

Keep us updated on the progress, I'd definitely like to come see it when it's done, only about a 3 hour drive for me!

    GE Hot Start??

This may be 2019, but nothing has changed. Still no filters, probably less powerful motors than the ones I owned, and no doubt lower temperature cycles. The racks don't look too bad, but I find the lack of an upper spray arm disturbing.. Why put an upper rack in the machine if you can't...

    GE Hot Start??

Been there, done that, NOPE. We had 2 of them and they were awful. One an early 2000's model Potscrubber, the second a later 2000's Potscrubber (both builder BOL) They were the poorest example of a dishwasher I've seen to this day. Yes, the Hot Start helped (first one didn't have it, second...

Help me choosing a coffee maker

I'm not a coffee drinker, so take this for what it is.. My parents used Bunn for years but never got more than about 3 years out of one until they inevitably started leaking.. At first a small dribble, gradually getting worse until it's making a huge mess, or shorts out the electronics (we had...

    Furnace replacement

If you decide to go with forced air, go with the highest efficiency you can get/afford. We have a 25+ year old Amana 91% efficient and it vents through a pvc pipe.. Very little wasted heat. Also better to slightly undersize your a/c unit or the house may feel damp.

Looking for a new (used) vehicle...

Run! My ex girlfriend's mom bought one and has had nothing but trouble with it. Engine, suspension, brakes,a/c system, you name it. Even a wheel fell off while she was driving! Hers is a 2009 and had something like 100,000 on it when she bought it. I drove it once or twice and wasn't...

Looking for a new (used) vehicle...

2001-2007 Chrysler minivans are rust buckets... Yes, mine was already starting to rust in the usual places when I bought it with 113,000 miles... By 130,000 I had replaced all the suspension, radiator twice, had the check engine light as a permanent fixture, and was having electrical problems...

Looking for a new (used) vehicle...

I wouldn't touch a Chrysler minivan with a 10 foot pole! I've owned 2, a 1987 and a 2005. The 87 had an excuse, it was old and I only paid $400 for it, the 2005 just sucked. It was the most unreliable vehicle I've ever owned and I've owned some junkers. I had a Toyota Prius following the 2005...

    Clothing with anti-odor technology

Yuck. I wear white cotton underwear and they get washed in hot water with bleach. I've never had an issue with my underwear stinking.. I also have a couple of the under armor style thermal tops and they get washed with normal laundry, usually warm water, and I've never had an issue there either.

    Microwave Misadventure...

It's a cute little microwave, but 700 watts? That thing needs all the help it can get, seeing that most 120v microwaves are at least 900w. I would just chalk it up as a loss and repaint the current one!

    Space heaters?

I'd say go for the oil filled radiator style, they put out a decent amount of heat and are totally silent. I would avoid any new style gimmicky anything... My roommate has one of the Honeywell ceramic tower heaters and I find it awful.. Just doesn't put out much heat! And it was new last year.

Circa October 2000 - GE Nautilus Dishwasher review

If you're planning on replacing it and want a quiet, efficient machine, a Bosch Ascenta series can be had for $499 and should fit the bill. I bought one for my parents about a year ago and it's working great- can't hear it outside the kitchen and it's very quiet in the kitchen, sounds like a...

    Roper 36" gas range questions

I'm still having mixed feelings about the stove- it's cool and vintage, but a little rougher than what I was looking for, so I'm not sure what I'm doing yet- I'm putting it back together from cleaning, and might at least see if the thing works. It does have a panel light, which I was told still...

    Roper 36" gas range questions

    It's definitely a 36", it has a warming/storage cabinet on the left, I was almost thinking 40", but I haven't measured it.

    Roper 36" gas range questions

Hmm, never thought about going from underneath- opening the broiler (a cool swing open/slide out thing) exposes the lower half of the spring (I was able to remove the broken one) but there's no way to reattach the new one to the door mount. I'll have to look underneath and see if it's possible...

    Roper 36" gas range questions

And the lines on the cooktop look like just chipped porcelain to me, but looks like a seam on the underside.. Definitely doesn't look bad enough to be rusted through.

    Roper 36" gas range questions

I'd like to dump the gas stove altogether, I've been here about a month and I haven't found anything I like about it yet. I've singed the hair off my hands, tried to bbq a couple potholders and turned cookies to bricks. I would much rather have an electric stove but the house isn't wired for...
