    Roper 36" gas range questions

The cook top actually isn't bad. There's a little surface rust underneath but nothing too crazy. There is some chipped porcelain on top but not rust. More what I'm asking is would it perform decently, whether looking great or not, and the knobs having been stuck (the burners were slightly stuck...

    Roper 36" gas range questions

I recently moved and unfortunately the new house has a gas stove- currently a 2000's ish Whirlpool that looks like it's been through a war and 2 burners don't light. I picked up this old Roper for free a couple days ago- the owner said all 4 burners work but she had never tried the oven because...

    Quick Maytag Neptune question

I was able to get our 5500 going with the door open by bending a heavy wire into the shape of the door latch- it didn't make a huge mess but you may want to lay down a towel or two in front of the machine, you will get a little splashing in any case.

    Car issues

I would fix it if you can (most likely) but if you do decide to upgrade, go with Toyota. You will be glad you did.. I have a 2004 Prius with almost 225,000 miles and still going. The non hybrid Toyotas are just as good. Most reliable car I've ever owned!

    1995 G.E. Potscrubber 1200 ????

Oddly enough, I picked up the portable version of this machine about a week ago for free. After a good cleaning and unclogging it works fairly well. My biggest complaint is that the thing is loud enough to wake the dead! I even added a second insulation blanket and it helped some but it still...

Anybody out there grossed out with cast iron cookware?

If cast iron is properly seasoned, you can use hot water and Dawn to your heart's content, and scouring pads if needed. The seasoning isn't coming off with soap and water. Just make sure to wipe it (inside and out) with a bit of oil after, then I heat it until it starts to smoke, turn it off and...

    Should I Buy This GE?

The extra clean cycle should be a long wash and 2 rinses, at least that's what ours did. Never really used it because it cleaned and rinsed very well on the normal cycle.

    Should I Buy This GE?

I'd say go for it, but mainly for the washer. We had a similar pair years back and the dryer was honestly awful. It ran far too hot and wrinkled everything. The washer on the other hand was awesome! Best cleaning washer I've ever used. Great capacity, if it has the spiral agitator you can...

1940's Cavalier / Frigidaire "water bath" Coca-Cola Cooler...

Vernors is a ginger ale type soda, good once in a while but very very fizzy. As far as I know it's only available in Michigan. Yes, Squirt is still available, it's a citrusy flavored soda, very similar to Fresca if that's any more familiar.

Safe to use a dryer that sat outside for 3-4+ months?

Success! I ordered the conversion kit and installed it, and I'm happy to say it's working! At first try it didn't light but I could smell gas in the drum, second try it worked fine. It does have about 7 feet of gas line after the shutoff valve, so may have had too much air in the line. It's...

Questions about a Whirlpool PORTABLE Washing Machine

I'd say mid 90's juudging by the controls, which I believe would make it a Direct Drive. If that's the case, it's an easy to repair, nearly bulletproof washer. They can be a tad rough on clothes, but if you don't overload and don't over wash (too much wash time for the soil level) you should be...

1987 Kenmore Limited Edition Washer Went Haywire

We've had power surges and didn't have any protection, and everything was fine. Not saying it always will be, but we have been lucky. A couple weeks ago a neighbor's tree lost a limb and ripped the wires out of our house and the meter box off of the garage wall, when the power company came to...

    Weather Station broken

We have an indoor/outdoor wireless thermometer and have had it for probably close to 10 years now. We did have to replace the outdoor sensor once but it's been fine for 7 or so years, and I can't remember the last time the batteries in either unit were replaced. I also have a wired unit in my...

Safe to use a dryer that sat outside for 3-4+ months?

Well, so far so good. I tore into it yesterday and it doesn't look bad at all. No major rust, no mouse damage that I've seen, seems to run fine (haven't hooked it up to gas yet). I took all of the large parts (drum, door, front bulkhead, lint filter etc.) And scrubbed them down, rinsed with the...

Safe to use a dryer that sat outside for 3-4+ months?

I know there's a mouse nest in the blower housing, I imagine it will be completely torn down, check all wires and connections etc. There is a loose paddle in the drum but that's an easy fix. I was just concerned about the safety of electrical components and switches, sensors etc. It's been...

Safe to use a dryer that sat outside for 3-4+ months?

I picked up an LG washer and Maytag Neptune MDG3000 this spring to repair, and both machines had been sitting outside for an unknown amount of time before I got them. The washer has moved on, but the dryer had some mice or something living in it, and I don't like crawlies. So it stayed outside...

Xtra Laundry Detergent - Now With "Odor Blasters"

I've used it and the only positive I had was that it smelled nice (in a high enough dose to possibly clean clothes), otherwise it's just flavored water.

Maytag Neptune 3000 won't complete final spin...

Well, still an easy fix but not what I thought! I was thinking the problem was the wax motor or one of the related switches. Turns out to be the out of balance switch... I had tried to wash a load of rags in it and it 100% refused to spin. I tested all the door related switches, and all were...

    Could it be a Mirage?

Might as well use it and enjoy it now, when it's your time to go you can't take it with you!

    Leaf blowers/lawn vacuums

Apparently Paramount also made an electric edger.. One of our neighbors has one and I just edged her driveway with it this week. I'm pretty sure the blade was very worn, it didn't work well at all and the blade didn't extend past the guard at all. It was pretty quiet, I'll give it that at least.
