Kitchenaid KDI-17 blower not turning on/no longer drying dishes

I am not sure if the dishwasher should be used without the blower working. Again I am not sure if the heater coil would be still energized without the blower working. If so then I would imagine a great possibility of a fire. A friend had an older KA dishwasher and he had a fire in that general...

I never knew it would be this hard to find a replacement for my 18-yr old medium-sized Kenmore front

Just a thought, how about moving the laundry back down to the basement, can have full size machines next to each other. You can open the kitchen back up have the window exposed again and gain more counter space. Jon

    A new toy!

Congrats on finding an unusual machine. Looks like you will have some fun with it. I notice you stated that you won't be able to get to this machine until spring but you have tried it out. I don't know how cold it is where you live but you may need to drain all the water out of the pump and...

Anyone know why LG washers do this?

I have wondered this myself, but I have a top loader with dryer on top combined unit. Frigidaire bought last year. When it starts to fill it will open the cold water valve 5 times then when it fills the tub a third full it switches to hot to fill the tub the remainder of the way and the hot...

    Bath Soaps & Cleaning

We use Dove body wash and the tile walls stay clean it is mainly the tub that gets soap residue. I have tried Scrubbing bubbles and multiple cleaning products. The easiest and works the best for me is formula 409. Spray it on, wipe it off with a towel and clean as a whistle. No scrubbing or...

What's with the 'machine wash cold, gentle cycle, tumble dry low' tags lately?

Flame retardant clothes for kids.. I remember growing up the woman next door won a stuffed bear where she had worked in a raffle. She gave the bear to her grandson who was still in a crib at the time. He was around 2 years old. Well that bear heated up in the crib and spontaneously combusted...

    Movies with Appliances Being Used

The Three Stooges, when Shemp is dating some hot girl and they are cleaning up the kitchen after eating in her apartment and Shemp opens a running early KA dishwasher and gets soaked when the auto shut off switch doesn't work trying to put a glass in. Jon

    Nonstick Cookware? Me?!

The copper clad pans are not bad but they start to loose there non stick properties after awhile also. Wash in sink by hand and still happens. Washed in dishwasher same thing. I just spray a little non stick cooking spray and they work like new. They still look new after a couple of years. Jon

Windows 10 Latest Update Creates an Issue

I schedule my windows updates towards the end of the month. After allowing updates to enter and apply themselves, I will go in and delete them. Takes 95% of the updates out and system returns to normal operating status. Takes about a half an hour to complete but well worth it for another month. Jon

Replacement for 20 year old Whirlpool

No timers available to replace the one you have. It would seem to me someone here must have one or more sitting on a shelf somewhere. Jon

    Ice maker problem

Yes I was telling him about that Frigidaire. He had never heard of it before. He was explaining to me about a match lit oven that he had seen and didn't know that any of them were still around. He was 37 and only pretty much into newer stuff. I told him about this website also. Jon

    Ice maker problem

Thanks Chuck. I am sure these sliders save people a lot of sore backs and marked up floors. Glad to hear your remodeling is going along well. Can't wait for pictures of both new kitchens. Hope you and Rich are doing well. Think about you guys often. Happy Holidays to you both. Say hi to Rich...

    Ice maker problem

So Anthony showed up yesterday morning, one of the owners of the appliance repair. Nice enough guy seemed very honest and helpful. Not a good outcome. It appears either one or both boards are bad with the infra red light and receiver. So ice maker thinks that it is full all the time. Left board...

Any information on vintage fridge defrosters ??

I defrosted my chest freezer for the 1st time in 8 years last week. Emptied it and left the cover open. Put a fan on high on a table in front of it. Left it on for half an hour, then took a hair dryer on high and hit all around. Large chunks or patches of ice lifter right off easily. No scraping...

    Ice maker problem

Well that did not go well. Got the cover off, started to unplug some of the wire harnesses and check the wires and accidently dragged the top of my hand over a very sharp piece of metal and ripped the top of my hand open. Blood everywhere. Took quite a while to get it stopped. Doctors had me on...

    Ice maker problem

I tried shutting the unit down for an hour and nothing changed. Looked at a lot of info on the net yesterday and it does not appear to have a replacement heater. Must be built into it. I am going to take it out of the fridge tomorrow and have a look over. Thanks yogi for the link for the...
