Bob Load of newly installed, old, GE dishwasher

I have a newer GE in my apartment currently and the racks are horrendous. At least yours has the t shaped power tower and proper constant rinse arm. Mine has the newer spray tower and just a reflector off the roof for the 3rd level, neither of which are effective. Normal wash is only 3 fills on...

How to know if a dishwasher wash arm is clogged?

The lower arm is held on by nut, just unscrew it and lift the arm out for a visual inspection. It’s not uncommon for the end jets to get clogged.

Whirlpool Power Clean Quiet Partner I vs Quiet Partner II

The power cleans stayed pretty similar mechanically over their run. The biggest differences was between the badges they were sold under. I believe quiet power I vs II refers to the amount of sound deadening. The older units did full two rinses while the newer units made do with a purge and a...

    Best “Modern” Dishwasher

These are pretty bullet proof machines. Pull the wash arms to check for gunk and make sure they rotate freely. You’ll want to make sure the filter screen under the wash is intact and doesn’t have any debris on it. As noted make sure it’s getting a full change of water. If there are any spots of...

    Kelvinator (Westinghouse) Dishwasher.

I was looking through Facebook ads and come across this unique machine. This looks to have some kind of adjustable upper rack and a rapid advance timer. The pots and pans/triple wash cycle must be serious if it’s got it owns light! Anyways just thought I’d share...

    Best “Modern” Dishwasher

The direct feed system was initially billed as a step up feature for the more TOL units. The other Whirlpool you where looking at was a Gold model that would have had the direct feed system. One is just as effective as the other than the direct feed system doesn’t eat any rack space.

    Best “Modern” Dishwasher

While the power clean is a great dishwasher Bosch makes a great dishwasher too. European dishwashers are kinda love them or hate them here. As much as I love my vintage machines the Bosch I had was better. The power scrub cycle was about 2 hours which yes is longer than a vintage machine but...

    Best “Modern” Dishwasher

The standard tub power clean has a flush kick plate where the tall tub point voyagers did not. The sump is swept in the power clean design where it’s flatter on the point voyagers. Whirlpool badged machines usually have the in the door silverware basket where as the Ultra wash machines have a...

    Maytag Portable. Any good?

We had this almost exact machine growing up. Bring a friend it’s a heavy beast and as noted she’s not exactly quiet. The reverse rack configuration will take some time to get used to but once you learn it you’ll be able to really shovel it full and enjoy stellar performance in both racks!

Liquid Detergents or pods in old dishwashers

Well there are a lot of variables involved. Liquid detergents usually have chlorine in them and will work well in a vintage machine. You would want to make sure your detergent cups seal well though, otherwise you may have issues with the detergent leaking out before the main wash. Detergent...

    Kelvinator Dishwashers

What are you going to use them for? If it’s for the tenants you’d probably be better to replace them. If you want to use them for yourself as a collector then they might be worth hanging onto. I do believe they are of Westinghouse design. Linked is a thread about a Montgomery Wards branded...

    NOS GE Potscrubber 1200

The 1200 is a fantastic machine, you’ll probably never find another NOS one. There will be some disagreement over which is better, but the 1200 is a full featured machine, has great build quality, and is a cleaning powerhouse. Get it!!

    18" Vintage Dishwasher

Was this of D & M origins? Had to have been near the end of the run. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/191967432666064/

    Single speed kenmore?

Well this machine popped up on Facebook marketplace, it’s the same machine with the same options but a different console layout. The one we had growing up was very similar to this, the cycles were probably the same they just were called slightly different things.

    Single speed kenmore?

The one we owned had cotton sturdy(high/high) permanent press (high/low) and knit delicates (low/low). It did not have the slow speed step down on the normal cycle. I don’t remember excessive wear being an issue, but it’s hard to say it’s been a long time ago and I pretty much wore 2nd hand...

    Single speed kenmore?

Well the reason I ask is that we had a 60 series kenmore growing up they had basically the same cycles and options but the more traditional console layout with the option knobs on the left. I thought it was odd that they would sell basically the same machine with two different console styles and...

    Questions about bath towels....

When I had my Maximas I washed my towels on sanitize, with just a small touch of fabric softener. The steam sequence in the dryer made for quite lovely towels as well. Since I’ve had to start using the laundromat I’ve noticed a decrease in the quality and cleanliness of my towels. At the...

    Sunbeam Hot Shot

I recently picked up a cheap electric kettle. It has an open top and is very easy to clean. I was really surprised at how fast it heats. Definitely a good investment.

    Laundromat adventures

The laundromat I frequent has recently installed two Fagor hard mount front load machines. This is a brand I’ve never seen around here before. They are quite large machines, probably 50-60 lbs. I haven’t used one yet since they are priced at 7 dollars per load and other than washing several...
