My Early Maytag A806 Rework Progress

I noticed that little detail on the pump as well. I'm going to clean this one up and try to use it, but that may not be possible. As for the timer, I'm inclined to agree with Dan on this. Mallory timers are more commonly found on the early machines, but since I don't know when Maytag began using...

My Early Maytag A806 Rework Progress

So this is it. I started the tear-down this afternoon, and right away I was surprised to find tower clamps installed throughout on this machine. Tower clamps haven't been easy to find for quite some time, so to me that would indicate just how long it's been since this thing had any real work...

Early Maytag A806 in Berlin PA

Just as a heads up If anyone sees a Mallory timer with the part number 203182 or 2-3182 come up for sale somewhere please let me know. I just purchased a new Kingston timer for this machine, but I'd like it to have a Mallory. I'll be tearing the machine down this afternoon and starting a thread...

Early Maytag A806 in Berlin PA

Actually it’s Dave or David. I’m not the least bit particular about which one folks use. And yes, you are correct. If I brought the machine home in its present state my wife would demand to know why I spent the money on this rusty piece of junk that doesn’t even work and there’d be a huge dust...

Early Maytag A806 in Berlin PA

Dan Unfortunately I wasn't paying any attention to the data plate this afternoon, but I'll be over to begin disassembly tomorrow. I'll try to get the serial number then. I need to get this done quickly since it's taking up space in my friends garage.

    Early Maytag 806

Is that five hundred for the lot? I think he's going to need to list those individually if he wants to get them sold.

Early Maytag A806 in Berlin PA

It's home. Or at least as close as it's going to get until the restoration is complete. My wife only sees things as they are, so if I bring it home looking like this she'll have a fit. Consequently, it's at a nearby friends place where all the work will be done. It's in pretty decent shape...

    Maytag DE806 questions

The console is lighted, and the lint filter is inside the drum at the center of the back surface as you've already guessed. As to performance I'll leave that to folks that have experience with these machines, but quite a few members of this blog love them.

Have you bought it yet? :D I told the owner if no one else stepped up I'd buy it. No one did, so I'm going out to have a look this weekend and likely bring it home. Someone picked up the dryer today.

Well thanks a lot, Dan. Now I'm really conflicted. [this post was last edited: 4/12/2021-20:02]

Early Maytag A806 in Berlin PA

Thanks Dan I knew it was an early one based on the stainless trim on top of the agitator, but I didn't know it was that early. The stem seal and boot seal are fairly easy to replace if necessary, but I was wondering if the tub bearing might be revitalized by injecting lube into the wicking with...

Early Maytag A806 in Berlin PA

Looks like it's in nice condition. The ad says it hasn't been used at all for about the last ten years. Asking $150.00. If I had a place to put another 806 I'd get this myself. These machines aren't turning up as often as they did just a few years ago, so hopefully someone will step up. If not...

    Maytag AMP (Parts Wanted) Timer

Turner I rebuilt an Ingraham timer motor some years back for Kevin's Apex washer. It's documented in the link below and the whole process went very smoothly, so much so that I thought I'd do it again a couple years later and try to make the completed repair look more like the original...

    Maytag A407 - Spin Cycle Doesn't Stop

Just as a heads up, if you're going to keep this washer long term it'd be worth your time to visit the Automatic Ephemera site and download the various manuals for it. It's an incredible resource and it'd be a shame to not take advantage of it. The link is below and in the upper corner of every...

Center Dial Maytag with Stainless Steel Lint Filter and Chrome knob $160 in Illinois

<span style="color: #ff0000;">"Is it the camera and/or lighting, or has the <span style="color: #ff0000;">metallic blue paint across the bottom of the console faded or been removed entirely?"</span></span>   <span style="color: #ff0000;"><span style="color: #000000;">I think you're seeing that...

    Maytag A407 - Spin Cycle Doesn't Stop

Scott Your washer fills properly, and once filled to the selected level it agitates, so we should be able to rule out the fill level selector switch since each of those two functions make use of one side of the switch, the two sides being the empty circuit and the full circuit. As you've stated...

    Maytag A407 - Spin Cycle Doesn't Stop

Scott This is a real puzzle. I don't have my manuals in front of me since I'm currently at work, but these machines are incredibly simple mechanically speaking, which is one of the reasons they last as long as they do. This shouldn't be that hard to figure out. Once your machine is powered up...

    Maytag tub no fit

<span style="color: #ff0000;">"I pulled </span>up the Maytag parts diagrams I had handy, and the A308 lists these as part #213053, whereas the A408, which I had assumed to be identical, lists them as #313053."   That's odd. A part number  beginning with three should be for a dryer, not a...

I Need A Different Agitator...Power-Fin Is Tearing Laundry

A few years ago my mother used her 806 to wash all the white lace curtains that had been hanging in the upstairs windows for twenty years. In spite of their delicate state they emerged from the washer clean and undamaged. It makes me wonder why your experience is so different.

Vintage home incenerator..rare.. old. Stove $225

looks like a back yard cooker. Yep. As a kid that's what I thought they were. One day I asked why nobody used them and I was told what they were for.
