    Cascade Complete packs

As I said in the HE powdered laundry thread........ How I wish Henkel would bring Somat dishwasher-ing to the States! (Perhaps they have, but I mean to supermarkets, Target..without having to "mail order" the stuff..) Somat 9, which a kind friend sent me, is the only dishwasher detergent I...

    Powder HE detergents

Henkel USA I wish, wish, wish they'd import Somat dishwashering!!!! It's the only dishwasher detergent I have consistently preferred to Cascade Platinum. As for powdered detergent in a front loader? Not for me, thanks. I do like my new card-op Speed Queen FL down in the building's first...

    Who uses rinse aid?

I have always used rinse aid, in my 45 years of automatic dishwashing, Now, with this new apartment's Elux-idaire, my first with a stainless steel tank, it's even more of a must, with the almost hard water here. Lawrence/Maytagbear

Advice on purchase of new Food Processor

I would go with Breville (very good, expensive), Magimix (not always imported to the States,) or Cuisinart. For the time being, I would avoid the current KitchenAid. I have heard from more than one person that the current KA processors are harder to use than they should be I am decidedly a...

Calling all Poles ( and others..) need an Hard cooked Egg recipe in cream sauce

My Polish cookbooks are still packed away and in storage, or I would look...... Public libraries are our friends. Also, look in vegetarian cookbooks. Anna Thomas, Mollie Katzen, Crescent Dragonwagon have lots of egg recipes you might adapt. Also look in Russian cookbooks...

I need help to choose a new vacuum

Miele, Miele, Miele. My Capricorn is the best vacuum I have ever owned/used, and its quietness makes Miele the best brand for apartment living. THE furnace in this apartment is louder. Yes, the Capricorn was discontinued. However, there are many places in greater Los Angeles to experience...

    Preferred Laundry Space

Some places get too cold in the winter to have the laundry in an unheated garage, just saying. When we owned our built in 1915 house, the laundry was in the basement. Under-lit, but otherwise OK. Loved the double cement utility tubs!! Apartments 2-4 had laundry in the kitchen, and I liked...

Looking for a cookware set, not sure where to start!

I mostly have Classic, classic Farberware and food rarely sticks. I do have ONE piece of Teflon, and it is by All-Clad. Cook's Illustrated/America's Test Kitchen/Cook's Country set me wise to it...LIFETIME Warranty! Send it back when the finish is damaged, and they send a new one...

    Cascade Complete packs

I have not had oversudsing in my new apartment's "Electrolux-idaire" dishwasher with Cascade Platinum, I do believe you all, though. I DID have oversudsing with Platinum in my previous dishwasher, the GE Nautilus. The best oversudsing treatment, besides getting a less sudsy detergent next...

    Southern Fried Chicken

For raw small chickens....... go to the deli counter, if the store sells rotisserie cooked chickens, and ask if they will sell you one. They may blink, but the answer, usually, is "yeah, sure." Lawrence/Maytagbear.

Ash Wednesday No-Boil Baked Chili Cheese Mac

Looks good- Joe! Even though I am aa Protestant and not Roman Catholic, and therefore do not have to abstain from meat at Lent, I do like to reduce the amount of meat I eat during Lent. This looks delicious, and it's certainly easy! Lawrence/Maytagbear

    Cookers in the UK

Thank you for humo(u)ring me about the Baby Belling. Two more things I should like to know about cookers.... First, I love BBC GoodFood magazine. It's not too easily found at newsagents here in my part of the States......anyway, a few years ago there was an ad for OvenNu "Oven Valeting...

    Found a real oddity

Never seen one live....... However, in the late 1960s, very early 70s, in one of their last tests of electric percolators, Consumer Reports did a sidebar review of this Revere electric drip. I do not remember the entire review, I do remember two things.....they said it made very good coffee...
