Where to get Kitchen Knives sharpened

I also endorse the Chef's Choice line of sharpeners. America's Test Kitchen endorses them. Also, the Sur La Table cookware stores used to offer sharpening. No idea if they still do, but if there is one in your region, call and ask. Lawrence/Maytagbear

    The BEWITCHED Major Appliance Inventory

I have heard......... I may be wrong. Why ,,dishwashers and washers are not used "live" in film/TV, is the intake/drain noises. Interesting thread, thank you for the resarch. I am a casual fan, not a major fan. Lawrence/Maytagbear

Did anyone ever use Dishwasher All?

As I have said before, Ma liked Cascade, and I liked Calgonite, when it was still made. We weren't too fond of Finish.......but we never tried Dishwasher all. Did it perform well? Lawrence/Maytagbear

Who Remembers "Tiger-Tiger" Orange/Licorice Ice Cream?

We summered in the Muskoka Lakes region of Ontario Canada for most of the 1970s, and our nearest town, Bracebridge, had a independent ice cream stand, and they had a version, which they called "Tiger Tail." Ma liked it, my sister and I loved it. The licorice was real, but not overwhelming...

    Worst washing machines

Worst I have used were the COIN-OP Speed Queen machines at my last apartment! If they were the only SQs I had experienced, I would hate them with the heat of 1,000,000,000,000 suns. I used either Tide or Persil. hot water, heavy soil...and rarely got a fresh smelling wash. I did not...

    New dishwasher Maytag or Miele?

If you have differently shaped dishes, instead of standard round ones...like Franciscan Starburst or Oasis, take a full (clean :) place setting with you when you shop in person. My sister's good dishes are hexagons, and she did not take them with her when she shopped for her new European...

    Belt/direct drive Whirlpool question

We had a belt drive Whirlpool Imperial (not the XII), and it ran well for a decent span, 1964-1978. My question is about the "D" shaped tub opening. It did not bother me, but it sure seemed to bug CR. Was there a functional reason for it, or was it just random? Thank you (in advance)...

    The shrink continues--

This proves the difference between price and value. Value shoppers would prefer a rise in cash price, Price shoppers generally do not object to shrinkage. Lawrence/Maytagbeae.

First time KitchenAid Superba owner seeking advice

Simple advice..... You do know to let the water run at the faucet until it is hot, correct? THEN you start. This is called "purging the line," and it is considered by most to be best -practice. Welcome! Lawrence/Maytagbear

    A Tale of Two Cyclomatics

I wish I had something more useful to say about the motors, but I have only been interested in using an Osterizer or Blendor, with or without alcohol. They are good for saucemaking, and for dissolving gelatin --1 packet orange Jell-O. 1 11 ounce can of mandarin oranges...save the syrup, add it...

    Salted butter or not?

As for me......... as long as it is REAL butter, I am not too bothered. I can adjust a baking recipe easily to any salt level in the butter. I do add salt to all my bakes, to balance the flavors. -During World War Two, my Great Grandmother on my Da's side took butter rationing very hard...

    CAN You Believe This Interior?

Putting this very politely I rather doubt that the seller plays for the home team. I do not drink alcohol, and have not for many years, To me, Budweiser is the equivalent of fast food. Lawrence/Maytagbear

Who has Food Processor Bread Cookbook by Editors of Consumer Guide

Saint Google for the immediate answer, and when you are less stressed, like next Wednesday, go to or phone your public library, and if they do not have it any more, ask them to do an InterLibrary Loan. Lawrence/Maytagbear
