    Free Whirlpool dryer

I'm not up on these. Isn't this a Calypso or something like that? I stumbled across it on Craigslist, and didn't know if someone would need it to match their washer. https://worcester.craigslist.org/app/d/fitchburg-whirlpool-dryer/7671596337.html

We picked up at 1949 bendix Gyro, Matic yesterday

What a beautiful machine! I love the logo and lettering too. Will this be getting a full restoration?

    Frigidaire Poppy Red set

Martin, I was just going to post nearly the same thing. Another kitchen with character bites the dust.

    Maytag washer question

Another thing I don't know; our current washer has a 3.3 cubic foot tub. How would either of these machines compare, capacity wise?

    Maytag washer question

Here's a link to the Whirlpool; misidentified by the seller as a Maytag. It does say "Two speed" on the panel. https://westernmass.craigslist.org/app/d/thorndike-maytag-washer/7669363352.html

    Maytag washer question

I haven't spoken to the seller, because I don't want to waste his time if I'm not seriously interested. The couple of pictures make it look very clean, and he said it's been his back-up washer for some time. He's asking $125. Now, a little farther away from me, and a little more expensive, (see...

    Maytag washer question

Thank you. I appreciate any and all feedback. My current washer is an early 2000s Amana. It looks nearly identical to a similar vintage Speed Queen. But, apparently, was built by Maytag. I've mentioned it here before, as it has developed the seal/bearing issue that was apparently the weak spot...

    Maytag washer question

Thank you, Dan. And, thank you for posting the link. From those better pictures, I noticed two things. I don't see an extra rinse option. But, I imagine, on the rare occasion one wants to do that, it can probably just be selected on the timer. Also, I don't see a "delicate" or "gentle" cycle...

    Maytag washer question

Hi all. I had no idea where to post this question, since I have no idea how old the washer is. I'm just wondering what you can tell me about it, based on the model and serial numbers. It's for sale fairly close to me, and I don't know if it would be worth considering. The price, while not...

Minty Looking Maytag 806 Set in North Central Minnesota

Wow. Beautiful! Looks just like the pair my in-laws used to have. I wish I could have taken theirs when they got rid of them. I doubt if theirs were as minty though.

Let's talk jeans. Love them or hate them?

Oh yeah. I had neglected to mention that the Wranglers that I get have a bit of stretch to them as well. I don't think they look like "stretchy" jeans, in my opinion. We do most of our shopping at Walmart, and decided to try these for my "work pants", since they were pretty inexpensive. They...

Let's talk jeans. Love them or hate them?

Jeans are practically the only long pants I wear. My job, before I lost it, was very blue collar. Cool weather, and all winter, it was jeans. Warm weather, it was cargo shorts. Now that I'm unemployed, and home 99% of the time, I'm always in shorts and a t-shirt. The same type of material as...

Not So Fast re: "Banning" Gas Stoves

Dave, I've seen a couple of those flares around here; on the outskirts of landfills. Someone told me it was to burn off methane. I don't know if that's accurate or not. And, since I don't get out as much as I used to, I don't know if they're still active.

Which decade was Maytag’s very finest?

Sean (Stuftrock1), When I first met them, my in-laws had a matching pair in gold. I don't know what models specifically, but they had the lighted consoles. I wasn't in a position to take them when they decided to replace them, or I would have, in a heartbeat. The dryer, which worked perfectly...

Incandescent light bulb BAN goes into effect next week

That looks very much like the fixture above our kitchen table. In twelve years of living here, we may have replaced one bulb. Maybe. And, I don't know how long the previous owners had the fixture/bulbs. "Candelabra bulbs like those are so inefficient they probably will burn NOT out in your...

"I'm Earl Scheib and I'll paint any car any color for just . . .

I can't remember if it was Earl Scheib in this area, but I remember a similar "paint any car" deal for $99.

Incandescent light bulb BAN goes into effect next week

I would have no real objection to using LED bulbs. But, every one I've ever tried has bothered my eyes/head because of the strobe effect. I'm apparently very sensitive to it. I just wish I had hoarded more incandescents while I had the chance.

    Discontinued detergents/products that you remember

Ivory products! When I was growing up, my mom always used Ivory Liquid for dishes. I loved the scent! And, Ivory Snow as well. I wish more companies would stick with the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" school of thought.

    Discontinued detergents/products that you remember

I miss the original scent of several products. Dawn dish detergent. Tide powder. April Fresh Downy. There's more that I just can't think of at the moment. As for a product that I miss; Final Touch fabric softener. I don't know if it's officially discontinued, but we haven't been able to find it...
