Corning Ware: What am I doing wrong?

John, That's interesting. Like I said, I'm new to Corning bakeware. And, the few pieces that I have were all purchased second hand. One piece, like you described, had brown marks from burnt splatters of some sort. I was amazed at how easily that one cleaned up! And, oven rack marks, and the few...

Corning Ware: What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for that advice as well. While I've used Corelle plates and bowls for ages, I'm actually brand new to Corning bakeware/cookware. I will make every effort to keep the metal utensils away from it.

Corning Ware: What am I doing wrong?

Oh, thank you, Eddie! We do have some Cerama Bryte. I'll have to give that a try! I couldn't swear to it, but we might even have some Weiman's. Cautiously optimistic 🙂 [this post was last edited: 5/11/2023-11:42]

Corning Ware: What am I doing wrong?

Hi, all. A little while ago, I posted about my latest "Ooh...shiny!" objects of my affection; Corelle/Corning. The other day, on a thrift store trip, I did it again. I came home with two square casseroles; a 1 liter and a 2.5 liter. Shadow Iris and Forever Yours, respectively. Also, a group of...

during the course of 2023 if you had to buy a vintage washer to replace your modern washer

I don't have a specific machine in mind. But, it would most likely be a Whirlpool/Kenmore, top loader, and no newer than 1990s/early 2000s. Even though I know very little about them, I'm drawn to the Kenmore 80 or 90 series. Preferably, the one with the four option knobs. I also wouldn't rule...

    New obsession with Corning/Pyrex

Yes! There's my Spice O' Life casserole, for $19,000! I'd like to hang onto something that's been in my family for a while. But, maybe I should sell it and buy myself a nice used vehicle. 🙄 Maybe it's the same person who's trying to get $100,000 for the turquoise GE wall oven.

    New obsession with Corning/Pyrex

I've heard that as well, Eddie. And I may have used it before. I just happened to have a small jar of Mothers polish handy, since I had recently used it on a Kirby vacuum. I forgot to mention that Mom also gave me part of her set of Wildflower Corelle. I don't know what became of the dinner and...

    New obsession with Corning/Pyrex

Thanks for educating me about the eggshells. That's interesting. I agree about the Corelle. Our "daily drivers" are a set of Country Cottage that we received as a wedding present. My parents had Wildflower, whenever that was current. Late '70s? Early '80s? My wife's parents had Indian Summer...

    Oh NO! Not Tupperware too...

Yup...what robbinsandmyers said. My mom still uses Tupperware that's older than I am. As a kid, I used to like rummaging through the cupboard and finding the older lids that had the "Tupper Seal" logo. That quality and longevity really doesn't seem to matter to most people these days. Who knows...

    New obsession with Corning/Pyrex

Hey, Eddie, Please forgive my ignorance. I have to ask the reason for adding eggshells when making "Hobo coffee". I know...google is my friend and all. But, I'd rather ask an actual human "friend" who has first-hand experience. Barry

    New obsession with Corning/Pyrex

Ralph, I've seen several of those handles listed on the bay. I know different handles fit different dishes, but I don't yet know which is which. I'm sure one or more will end up joining the hoard at some point. At least they're not too expensive, and won't take up too much room! And that "sauce...

    New obsession with Corning/Pyrex

John, That's a beautiful collection! Maybe "obsession" was the wrong word for my situation. A random item or type of item will just all of a sudden become irresistible to me, and I fixate on it. When I had more room and disposable income, I would end up buying sometimes hundreds of something...

    New obsession with Corning/Pyrex

Unfortunately, it's happened again. I don't know what the personality disorder is called, but every once in a while, my brain latches onto a particular item or type of item, and I feel that I must acquire several examples of it. Most recently, it's Corning Ware, Corelle, and Pyrex bakeware. Some...

A little late to comment, but I believe I see one identical to our Amana in the background.

1950s Vintage "Laundromat" Washing Machine $25 Listed 20 weeks ago in Statesboro, GA

Would this be a Westinghouse? Didn't they use the name "Laundromat"? Or, am I mistaken? Or, maybe other brands used that name too.

Sears 1982 Christmas video- washers, vacuums, oh my...

Nice find! I'm sorry you didn't end up getting it. That mileage is unbelievable! I know, some people would think that "patina" is perfect. Personally, I would have to get it painted. At least, the horizontal surfaces that are really cooked.

Hey, Fred. I admire that you've kept all that paperwork all these years. Like you said; I don't know what you'll do with it. But, I have plenty of stuff that falls into the same category. I don't know what, if anything, I'll ever do with it. But, it has sentimental value for me. Barry

Sears 1982 Christmas video- washers, vacuums, oh my...

Beautiful car! I had one uncle who had a '65 or '66 Ford, Galaxie or LTD. I was too young to remember exactly. I know that the hubcaps were different from the ones in the picture you posted. Another uncle had a '67 Galaxie fastback coupe that I loved. My dad was a Chevy man all my life...

Sears 1982 Christmas video- washers, vacuums, oh my...

I'd like to have at least half of the cars on that lot! The '80s, and somewhat into the '90s were the last cars I really felt any enthusiasm for. It's like they started losing their identity, style, and character after that. Today's cars are more dependable, generally speaking, get better...

Sears 1982 Christmas video- washers, vacuums, oh my...

I worked at a couple of different KFCs in the mid to late '80s. I started at one location, and got transferred when the owners opened a new location. Except for the occasional drunk who would come in shortly before closing, this is just how I remember it. I haven't eaten fast food in ages, so it...
