Looking for an old Maytag set...

Gyrafoam Thank you for all of that great info. I appreciate it. I know it is going to take a fair amount of effort on my part to make this happen and I am fine with that. At least now I know what to set my sights on. I did see the ad for that 806 but since I know next to nothing about these...

Looking for an old Maytag set...

Leaky Transmissions Country Ford, Thank you for that information. I read a few other posts on here that basically said the same thing. I'm assuming that replacing the seal and filling it back up with oil would be pretty hard. I'm not scared to do work like that as long as I have...

Looking for an old Maytag set...

Gyrafoam Thank you for your response. I am well aware that even for a brand as popular as Maytag that these are very old machines and that parts could be scarce. My plan would be to find a competent machine, from the late 50s as you mention, and then work to find as many spare parts for it...

Looking for an old Maytag set...

After thinking about my end goal of getting a vintage washing machine I have been doing some thinking. I have chatted with Bruce Lucenta and have come to the conclusion that I might as well search for something attainable. This means that I am going to be looking for a pair of (preferably) 50s...

: Fisher President Stereo Console Restored - $1500 (Coconut creek)

Wow... I need $1500 in a bad way. I've been looking to get my hands on a fisher for quite a while. Someday...

    Nice GE fridge

It's. So. ADORABLE! Even though this GE is much newer than the ones I usually lust after...this one is just too nice. It even has the "textolite" sticker on the interior! I hope someone nice gets it and cherishes it. That model will be super reliable.

    POD 4/24/2017

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for the information. Now I know how the first dryers worked.

    POD 4/24/2017

Bruce, Very interesting. Thanks for the information. When you say that Hamilton switched to a solid tub dryer, I had no idea there was any other type. What other kinds were there?

Vacerator I like that idea. Seems like you would get a lot of stuff for your kitchen in a small area that way.

Has anyone ever recharged or had the freon recharged in a vintage fridge?

Lorainfurniture... Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm wondering if there is something wrong with either the fan or the defrost system. Either problem will cause high temps in both sections and a frosted over evaporator coil. If you take off the back freezer panel and see the...

    1935 GE "Flat Top" Refrigerator

Sudsmaster Mmm...creamed peas, that's what I want my appliances to be colored (1970s housefiwfe).

    So Many Questions

Man, the information keeps coming. Mark, So your lady Kenmore is a wringer washer? I didn't realize that Kenmore was still making those by then. Seems like a lot of people were slow to switch to full automatic. Also, what do you want to see pictures of? I posted pictures of most of my fridges...

Countryford That is a very impressive list of fridges you have there. Very cool. I especially like the Americana line and the Revco units.

Has anyone ever recharged or had the freon recharged in a vintage fridge?

Funktionalart How is the temperature holding up in the freezer section? That will be very telling.

Has anyone ever recharged or had the freon recharged in a vintage fridge?

Frogkid11 I know a fair bit about fridges. Please give us more information about your Frigidaire. Is it a frost free model with a fan in the freezer or is it a manual defrost model. At any rate these old fridges rarely leak out unless they have been abused in some way. Also, could you take a...

    So Many Questions

Foraloysius... I do love that kitchen. Thanks for that video. It was fun to watch. However, I already have the stove and many types of refrigerators made in the 30s so I have that part ready to go. In fact I have one refrigerator that matches my stove exactly, they even have the same badge. I'm...

Neptunebob Thank you for the suggestion. For a modern dishwasher I like the look of the artistry line. However, I really would prefer something old. That is why I'm not right in the head. At least the badge looks like my dads old 1947 space maker refrigerator.

    Christmas in April!

C6? Wow, I've never heard of a C6. I thought the others looked like C7s but I wasn't sure. The fact that they run at such a low voltage is neat!

    Christmas in April!

Very cool That is so neat to have something that old that is meant to be used up and thrown out. Are those old cloth cord light sets wired in series? I can't tell.

    1935 GE "Flat Top" Refrigerator

Thank you Ultramatic! I like the color too. That's why I figured it would be best to leave it alone. Too bad it has some deep scratches on it. Still looks pretty good for an old paint job though.
