GE Cafe appliances "Matte White" finish

Reply# 1 Thanks for your response! Since it is a matte finish I suppose it has a texture resembling sandpaper, if you will. As such it may be a magnet for grease and fingerprint smudges, I'm hoping that a non-abrasive wax coating applied to the finish will seal the surface pores sufficiently...

GE Cafe appliances "Matte White" finish

Looking to purchase a new GE Cafe fridge finished in what GE describes as a Matte white finish, I abhor the stainless steel look and the maintenance required to keep it looking decent. What has been other members experience, if any with this particular finish? Oddly enough, the GE use and care...

all original 1970s home set to be demolished

"lack of knowledge" Indeed, not knowing the difference between a switch and a switchplate will cause me to end the video right there and then and to never to return to that channel.

    Unusual request....

Reply# 3 I did just that last Wednesday (10/16) with no response yet. Subsequently I called Frigidaire customer support on 10/17 and was directed to inquire with Curtis Industries of whom I called that same day, they were clueless as to what I am looking for. I did find an equivalent...

    Unusual request....

Reply #1 Thanks, but I already have the page you thoughtfully supplied, at this point I think the only way to get the measurements is to ask friends on the mainland somewhere to go to their local Walmart and to physically measure it, provided that store has it on display.

    Unusual request....

But I'll throw it out here anyway. I am considering purchasing a Frigidaire 6.5 cubic upright freezer, model # EFRF698 from Walmart, unfortunately this model is not stocked in any of my local Walmart stores and is a special order item only. I need to know the internal dimensions of this unit, in...

    desperate...

Seeking a NOS genuine Maytag top load washer mounting stem kit, part number #6-2095720. This part is obsolete as a genuine Maytag part, I've scoured eBay to no avail. Aftermarket (Chinese) knockoffs are available on amazon.com and elsewhere, but we all know the quality of such parts. If anyone...

Laundry Appliance Servicemen Of Old - Was It Ever A Good Living?

Reply # 10 Ah yes, the ubiquitous Sears-Roebuck store, we had a rather large one here in Honolulu during the late '50's. It was the only American institution I can remember where Mom would shop for new school clothes for us kids, while Dad watched a football game in the appliances section as...

Laundry Appliance Servicemen Of Old - Was It Ever A Good Living?

Respect... As a boomer I remember regarding the TV repair person as a wizard, like most households in the '50-'60's we owned just one television, an ancient 19" inch black/white Zenith until it was determined that it was completely irreparable. At times the entire chassis had to be removed for...

Here we go again. Are we using too much detergent?

Persil I use Persil pods exclusively for all my laundry, I simply toss a pod into my Speed Queen top loader and let the detergent and machine do it's thing. Growing up as a kid, my Mother would use Rinso Blue powder exclusively, it produced copious amounts of suds in our GE Filter-Flo machine...

    Speed Queen - Coming Soon...

Reply# 59 You'd be very hard pressed not to purchase a new TC5 here in Honolulu for $1800, the sole SQ dealer in the entire state wants $1500 for the appliance alone. Tack on another $300 for freight to Honolulu and you can be the proud owner of a new TC5. If you live on the one of Neighbor...

    "milkstool" washers...

Speed Queen I recently overhauled a SQ TV2000WN top load machine and was very impressed with it's robust construction. Indeed, the "milk crate" and washer base panel are fabricated from thick gauge steel, much thicker than one will see from the present-day competitor's machines.

    Speed queen inverter board failure

electronic control boards... This is exactly why I jumped on the opportunity to by a used Speed Queen TV2000WN top load washer, it features a mechanical timer. I recently overhauled it and bought a new timer as a spare, just in case.

    Fanless Whirlpool Microwave

Reply# 16 I personally use Glad Press and Seal to cover items reheated in my microwave oven and leave some room for steam to escape, not to be confused with Saran Wrap, I never use that stuff when reheating food...

    Speed Queen - Coming Soon...

Don't believe that is wholly true It is my contention with regards to top load machines that as long as the manufacturer utilizes the suspension rod design that their machines will not last nearly as long those with the "milk-crate" design, ala Speed Queen. Some have stated on this forum that...

    Speed Queen - Coming Soon...

Reply# 5 Believe it or not, but there is just one Alliance Laundry Products dealer here in Hawaii, in addition to residential machines, the also "carry" commercial coin-op units. Carry meaning they can order the product, there's not enough demand for the machines locally for them to stock any...

    Samsung washer and dryer

Non-existent When shopping for a new french door fridge several years ago @ Lowes, the sales associate tried to sell me a Samsung with such fervor that you would had thought he was employed by the manufacturer instead of Lowes. During his spiel I interrupted him and asked who provided local...

    Physical part stores

CRT televisions Many years ago I built a 19" color TV in kit form from Heathkit (remember them?), essentially it was a Zenith set in kit form. The only circuit board I had to assemble was the power supply, as I remember the transformer was quite beefy. It was a nerve racking experience when I...

    Sunday Fun Day 8-11-24

Unusual... for the lid to open in that fashion, I assumed that some top load machines from the '50-70's opened that way, guess I was wrong. Wondering why Whirlpool went with different lid arrangements.
