So, I got something off Craigslist that REALLY sucks...

Now comes the rest of the story... I called the poster and thanked him for it. I also thanked him for being a man of his word as he had other callers after me including a lady who tried to throw a bunch of money at him but he told them that I had called first. A rare thing on C/L. A poster with...

So, I got something off Craigslist that REALLY sucks...

He said it ran but needed the hose repaired or replaced. Yeah, that's an understatement. Also not mentioned was the lack of attachments. It's ok, though, as Stephanie (Tennblondie78) was her usual awesome self and had researched lots of things like advertisements, Vacuumland threads and the like...

So, I got something off Craigslist that REALLY sucks...

Well, I guess it's time to join Vacuumland. First, the Hoover Celebrity Elite IV. Then I got the Kirby Omega. Now, well... I responded to a posting about a 60's Hoover vacuum. I had a good idea from the usual mangled, out of focus picture with the subject barely in the picture itself what it...

maytag lat9800 transmission rebuild or not

Ok. It does indeed sound like you have a transmission issue. You can get the transmissions new and used. You can look on Craigslist or the like or try a store that hauls old ones away as part of the sale for a donor that is the same era and capacity as yours and there you go. I have a thread on...

    Test Mode for new duets?

The mini manual for this machine is hidden inside under the top. If you remove the 2-3 screws that hold the top panel on at the back then remove it, you'll see it. This manual has everything from diagnostic cycles to a list of the fault codes that either are already in the memory or will show...

maytag lat9800 transmission rebuild or not

I agree... There's not a lot of info here yet. What exactly went wrong with the transmission? You mentioned seals. If you're just experiencing a oil leak underneath, then the lower seal on your washer (if it's an orbital) can be replaced for a substantially reduced cost compared to replacing...

Found the neptune boot cable in the drum...

It's a fun job but not too bad. Pull the 4 screws holding the dispenser lid Assy on. Pull the 4 screws holding the front panel on. Gently 'roll' the top two upright edges of the front panel outwards to disengage the hooks then the panel will tip out towards you then lift it off the lower panel...

When life keeps kicking you below the belt... Go thrifting!

Ready for another project to keep my mind busy, I found it. I kinda fancied a vintage Kirby for the fun of it. This one actually runs really well so it will be just clean up and polishing out things. I'll still pull the housings and go thru it anyway. That's how I roll. Lol!

Picked this one up recently as well. A really neat antique wins up carriage clock with alarm, repeater, chimes on the hour and half hour and is just really cool. Surprisingly heavy from all the solid brass and glass for such a little clock. [this post was last edited: 12/22/2014-01:28]

When life keeps kicking you below the belt... Go thrifting!

I needed an iron for the uniform I'll be wearing again (finally!!! Woo hoo!!!) and this fit the bill. Tried to figure why it was turned in. Figured out the temperature control knob was put on backwards at some point so when they wanted heat, it actually was off. Funny. I really liked these...

Saw this recently. I may be into retro technology but I have to draw the line >somewhere< ! I thought they were all gone by now. Brought back memories to be sure but not enought to get it...

When life keeps kicking you below the belt... Go thrifting!

Never fails. Just when I start to think I finally have things on cruise control, life keeps kicking me in the privates. Dad's condition keeps fluctuating, stuff back in Nevada always keeps demanding attention and then my personal/family life... It's all almost enough to drive me to drink. (And...
