Lubing the damper pads on a Maytag Dependable Care washer. A How To.

Remove the two 3/8" bolts that secure the top to the front of the cabinet. You will need the top to lift and give the tub room to raise. You'll see that in a minute.

Lubing the damper pads on a Maytag Dependable Care washer. A How To.

Remove the front cover. Some use two Phillips screws or in the newer DC machines, the front is held in place with clips.

Lubing the damper pads on a Maytag Dependable Care washer. A How To.

Tools you need really are few. A basic tool kit (this is a Xcelite tool roll that Maytag used to put out.) with screwdriver, nut driver for the top, a socket wrench for the tub spring nuts, a block comprised of 2 two by fours taped in a block, Poly Lube and maybe some gloves to keep your hands...

Lubing the damper pads on a Maytag Dependable Care washer. A How To.

The tub should move relatively easily by grabbing the agitator. Damper pads in need of service will allow the mechanism to 'grab' the base and cause vibration and/or shaking and walking. Let them go too long and the pads will get ripped off the base and you will hear the heartbreaking sound of...

Lubing the damper pads on a Maytag Dependable Care washer. A How To.

Since I had to do one in the field, I'd thought I'd share the process to let people see how it's done and how easy it is, thereby saving you the heartache of a destroyed damper.. Here goes! In the field, there isn't always room to spread out but there is more than enough room here to get it done.

So I picked up a dryer today...

Thank you all for your kind words. I'm still pinching myself. I will use it but sparingly as to keep it looking beautiful. Before I put it into service, I will most likely change the belts as they seem to both have permanent flat spots from sitting. That or hear more belt noise. I had just...

    Molly's Makeover

Not all that glitters is... Pink? Keep the glitter on the shelf, Kiddo. Maybe the next pink Mixmaster Junior. I agree with the above, IF you decide to mess with perfection, it should be white or maybe black but for now, revel in a awesome job. I have a vintage Mixmaster 7N stand mixer that...

    Meet Monica, The Filter Queen

I distinctly remember throwing out the name in (partial) jest . Lol! These are the first pics I've seen of Miss Monica and I can see why you hunted her down on eBay and was excited when she finally arrived. I used to do vacuum service back in N. California many years ago and had my fingers in...

    Molly's Makeover

*innocent whistling*indeed... You did warn me you had a attachment to pink. I almost wondered if you'd have done the raised Sunbeam logo on Moly's nose in glitter. Ducking! Just a superb job and definitely one to be proud of! I'll catch up with you later today to directly relay my admiration...

VERY Very First LEAP (Direct Drive) Kenmore?

Yup. It's very early. Another clue is the clear plastic timer dial skirt cover. It was supposed to keep people from using the skirt to 'bump' the timer thru a cycle while running, I think. I will defer to Gordon's expertise on that tho. I am betting this is a 'direct into spin' before they made...

So I picked up a dryer today...

This will be a prized addition to my harem (that's for you, Geoff!) on par with the 906's which I will finally be posting pictures of after fighting a battle with a defective card reader and a partially corrupted memory card. It's coming, Brian! And for those who are wondering what happened to...

So I picked up a dryer today...

A look at the books. A warranty card! Since Maytag goes by date of install, not date of purchase, I wonder if I could send in the registration card for the warranty. Leslie, I know you're gonna read this. What do you think? LOL!

So I picked up a dryer today...

Now that I got my ding on, I wanted to polish all the grime and dust from sitting in a box for 40 years. She's showroom new so it's high time she looks it. Lots of little tape residue marks, smudges, etc that the dealer would have done when actually installing her. Here she is looking dang good...

So I picked up a dryer today...

Time to wake her up from a 40 year slumber. Damp dry selected to test the electronic control and shut off solenoid. Oh and of course the bell! Listening in on my cell's speaker to the first ever run was our own Stephanie (tennblondie78). Thanks Steph for sharing the moment with me and being a...

So I picked up a dryer today...

Time to check 'under the hood'! As long as I'm marveling at what a new 06 dryer looks like, I had to open her up. Just awesome. I'm so used to only seeing tons of lint, broken parts and general mayhem from a few decades of use. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd get to uncrate a brand...

So I picked up a dryer today...

Yes, dear folks, it's a brand new DE806 dryer! As in... Well... NEW! I couldn't believe it! The books and footpads are still in the bag. Also, look at the shine on the housing behind the filter!
