EC30 Detergent Swatches (Tide Tiles) vs. Tide Ultimate Stain Release

Oh Interestingly the results here are consistent with my experience that tomato and mustard are the most difficult. Years ago I permanently set some tomato stains by not starting with ice cold water. Used to struggle with BBQ sauce because the tomato would be set by warm yet would not come out...

EC30 Detergent Swatches (Tide Tiles) vs. Tide Ultimate Stain Release

FWIW I have one and only one method of getting rid of stains. Pour Persil Stain Fighter on the stain, do not rub it, set it aside for at least 30 minutes and preferably up to 1 to 1-1/2 hours if oily or greasy, and throw it in the SQ FL with the rest of the load. Has never failed me. I don’t...

    New Dishwasher

Then I want one! I’ve been very happy with my Whirlpool engineered Maytag dishwasher that is now at least 5 years old (cleans well, great build quality, very quiet, no nasty food strainer), except its capacity has been disappointing compared to the three rack non-Whirlpool Maytag it replaced...

    New Dishwasher

Soft food disposer? Do those have a soft food disposer so there’s no unsanitary food strainer basket to manually clean? Been wanting one of those new 3 rack Maytags for a long time.

    POD 3-10-2024 Maytag SAVASUDS system

The thing I’ll never understand About suds savers is that I never have loads that could be washed in the same water. Start with whites, that’ll have Clorox which can’t be used on colors. Even a load of light colors first would cover the darks with lint. I remember relatives washing a load of...

SQ - Considering switching from TL to FL. Need advice

Go for it I had a SQ TL and loved it. Decided to get the SQ FL too. Did a trial load. Never used the TL again! Cleaner clothes with much less water and detergent. The TL just sat there. A friend begged me to sell the TL to him so I did. I’ve never looked back.

Easy Spindrier shown in "Driving Miss Daisy"

Why Didn’t the SpinDrier become more popular and overtake the wringer washer? Seems it would have been much more pleasant to use than a wringer. Were they substantially more expensive? Or were they not marketed until after automatics had already hit the scene?

Presenting the 1961 RCA Whirlpool Ultimatic. Another Gyromatic Production

Breathtaking Thank you so much for taking the time to share! Makes it like the old days when someone was always restoring machines from the 50s and 60s. That one, though, is truly one of the most attractive ever. If only they still made them like that, with heavy, shiny porcelain, chrome...

    Suggested wash times for Maytag

3-5 minutes is not enough time When I was in college all of us would notice that the dorm washers only washed for about 5 minutes, and our clothes would get noticeably cleaner on breaks when we’d go home and wash our clothes in home machines that washed for 10-15 minutes. I was born in 1962...

Speed Queen Front Loader owners . . . cleaning results?

FINALLY Someone else also said — as I have said many times — that you don’t need a heater in a SQ FL, and all you have to do for a piping hot wash is set it for a hot pre-wash. The cold clothes and tubs cool down the first hot prewash fill, but the prewash only takes a few minutes, and then...

    Which dishwasher gel to use?

Tried Aldi Radiance gel first It’s great! Better than Finish Powder. Tea stains came out of mugs. Everything was shiny and clean. Dishwasher even seemed brighter. So there. Seemed like the end of the world that Finish discontinued their powder and it turns out there’s a better sub. Yay

    Which dishwasher gel to use?

But we’ll see Before I get too negative and disgusted, gonna try some gels. Who knows? Might find one that’s better than anything before and wish I had tried that years ago! We shall see.

    Which dishwasher gel to use?

None Because they caused massive oversudsing that choked the machine. I’m going to try several gels and if there are problems, just give up on a dishwasher. Not in the mood to work through all the complications I went through to get to a solution with Finish Powder.

    Which dishwasher gel to use?

Oh and one other thing When the machine was new I tried both Cascade and Finish’s TOL packs that claimed to protect dishes. Shine shield and all that rot. In both cases the pods caused an oversuds condition and the machine sounded like it was totally choking on suds. No spraying was...

    Which dishwasher gel to use?

Hi I never pre-rinse but I do wipe off excess grease or oil with a paper towel because my kitchen and laundry are the same stack, and laundry lint and grease/oil in the same wastewater pipe in an 85 year old house is not a good thing. One exception. When I have a party everything goes in...

    Which dishwasher gel to use?

Thanks! I did not know that fine china manufacturers advise chlorine based gel. Fantastic to know. I wondered why Finish gel is still chlorine based and maybe that answers my question. It would be consistent with my experience that Finish is easier on dishes than Cascade. The NYT Wirecutter...
