1953 GE refrigerator isn't freezing on top

Thanks I only see one control dial, the main one inside. Again unfortunately the freezer compartment is only at 30 while the main one is right on at about 38. Is there some way to reset things? if the coolant was low what would it be doing? It is still useful as it is.

1948 General Electric refrigerator lettering restoration

Personnaly, if you are going to paint it, I would forget about anything water-based. I have a thread on here where I painted my GE fridge in the garage, and it turned out fine. Depends what you think a lot of work is. I just used Rustoleum white and it seems to be holding up and has about...

1953 GE refrigerator isn't freezing on top

Hi All, you may remember I picked up a 1953 GE combination fridge a few years back and painted it and found a few missing parts for it, etc., to restore it. It has been working fine but this winter, being in the garage, the freezer compartment wasn't working so well. Anyway now that it has...

    Launderall by Jacobs

I had one for a short time I think I sold it on ebay for $50 but it had to be shipped cross country after that so it went to a good home.

After way to many years my laundry room is back together! Westinghouse’s and Maytag’s!

Congratulations I have to post a picture of mine because of the similarity in room color. Not only does it compliment your Maytags but it goes along with the Westinghouse's as well

vintage 1941 GE refrigerator repair help needed

I had to buy a rusty 1956 fridge to get the part you describe. it was 75 bucks for the whole thing. I also used the temp control and some trim pieces out of it so it was well worth it. I think that style was maybe 54-57

    Westy Spacemates

I am not set up on this market place deal, so any other info would be most appreciated. where are these and how much are they asking for them? I might consider putting something like this in a bathroom just for fun. they would fit and you can't have too many washers. thanks for any info.

looking for set screw for 1954 GE fridge

Just wanted to post an update in case anyone in the future has a similar problem. After almost 70 years of use one of the problems with these old refrigerators is not the mechanical but the hinges and latches simply wear out. My 1927 fridge's hindges became paper thin and I was afraid the...

1959-1962 something Westinghouse dryer saved from Krusher

Well the dryer seems to be working fine. I am happy to have it. I would like to see Jerry's washer maybe these two could get together someday. I secured that light button with an electrical coupling thing. the 27" fluorescent bulb is going to be a challenge to find. I will have to rig...

    Hotpoint Electric sink

This unit was also at the "time capsule" house I picked up the washer and dryer at. It also had a yellow 1959? double oven stove. GE or Hotpoint I can't remember. this house was in the top 4 time-cap houses I have ever been in. This was also hooked up and apparently worked though I didn't do...

1959-1962 something Westinghouse dryer saved from Krusher

1959-1962 something Westinghouse dryer saved from Krusher

I am tapped out on space though I think I might try to keep this dryer if it works okay. There is one problem what I believe is the start switch is broken and I need to figure out some replacement. Or I could perhaps secure this inner push button to the cabinet and it would work. I see...

1959-1962 something Westinghouse dryer saved from Krusher

Picked these up as it seemed nobody wanted them. Here is a before shot - I just got them. They were hooked up and I assume they work. If anyone can tell the exact age of the dryer I would be most interested.

Is there any difference between a 1951 Kenmore Transmission and a 1981 one

I have been looking at some videos and they sure look the same. I am kicking myself for not parting out a few of the newer belt drives I have let go as they seem very similar and I could have got some parts off them as well as the experience of working on them. As it is I might go and get one...
