    Maytag performa washer

Coldspot66, for me and everyone else here who is largely ignorant of how the Herrin Maytags work, can you explain how a broken gear in the transmission would cause the behavior described here?

    Maytag performa washer

I can't really make sense of this. I will leave this up to those who know Herrin Maytags better than myself.

    Maytag performa washer

I'm not sure I understand the symptoms that you are describing? Does it agitate properly? If so, the transmission is fine. If the tub is moving excessively with agitation it is likely a brake issue. Has it been making loud squealing sounds at the end of spin cycles for a while? If it doesn't...

LDE612 dryer not heating.. is it likely the heating element?

Later production of that series also had a thermal fuse that can fail.

    Today's Ephemera - 1966 Lady K ALTERNATE

How did the variable speed on this machine work?   Did it use a standard 3-speed motor and then vary the voltage via resistor or autotransformer on one of the three sets of windings OR was it a completely different sort of variable speed motor?

    Today's Ephemera - 1966 Lady K ALTERNATE

I think that when most of us collectors think about the 1966 Lady Kenmore washing machine, what immediately comes to mind is the introduction of the "piano key" control panel. I had heard of this "alternate" model with electronic speed control over-ride but had never seen a pic.   What can...

TOL Maytag Washer & Gas Dryer Pair - $300 (Ruskin)

Washer is second from the top - A710, 1980-1984. 2-speed. The three middle buttons are: Normal/Normal, Normal/Slow, & Slow/Slow.   Dryer is third from the top - D610, same years as washer. This was the top-of-the line "non-electronic" dryer from the time period. The electronic control...

    The Wonder Oven is working!

The 1953 "RS" series Frigidaires used a 1200 watt thermizer unit.   The RS-40, RS-50, RS-60 & RS-70 all had the Thermizer feature. All but the RS-40 featured the "Thriftomatic" switch.   Here's a scan of the technical info for the 1953 ranges:

    Antique Clothes Dryer

That is kind of drying rack clothes dryer. These were made by a number of manufacturers and this was the only kind of clothes dryer available until the tumble dryer became commercially available in 1936. They could be heated with wood, coal, oil, steam, gas or electricity.   They were usually...

OLDER MAYTAG WASHER AND DRYER MINT CONDITION REALLY - $100 (south los angeles)

Not suds-saver on this model. This model (A810) was never offered as a suds saver.    On this model the top button reads "Timed soak and Wash" and the bottom reads "Timed soak only".

    Maytag Dryer Timer

Those timers are virtually impossible to rebuild. The timer in that dryer is part #306483. It was also used on the DE/G 312 models. My searches are not coming up with anything under $100 for that timer.    Are you absolutely certain that the timer is bad? Does it work properly on the "Air...

Maytag A206 with sluggish agitation - Cold Weather Problem?

You are spot on diagnosing the issue.   The fact that you cannot stop the agitator by hand tells me that the motor carriage springs and belt are good.   The belt is slipping (as it is designed to) until the transmission warms up and can achieve normal speed agitation. If this slipping...

Kitchen Combo - $3600 (Helena Housing Authority)

For $300-$500 it would be an amusing thing to play with. At that price I hope have space to store it for a while.

    New to me...1959 GE Princess!

Glad to see that everything is working well! I knew that the timer, motor and heater worked and that she didn't leak. Glad you rehabbed the water valve and drain hose.   Enjoy years of better living with your new GE hygienic dishwasher!

    New to me 1-18

That is a late 1970s model WIB or WIG. This was from the last cycle of GM Frigidaire production and could have been manufactured anytime between the fall of 1978 and early 1980 when the Frigidaire name was put on a WCI production machine.
