    Built-In Refrigerators?

built in refrigs are a money pit and bad design. Be warned. Frigs and freezers need to be able to breathe and need air space around them. Boxing it in is foolish. Having something with a fan is noisy, uses more energy and requires more maintenance and cleaning. Plus you restrict yourself in...

How to Get the Retro Appliance Color you want with a WRAP

"Burning PVC" If the wrap on your appliance were to reach the temperature needed to make it burn, some 700+ DEGREES, you're likely having many other much LARGER problems going on. AGAIN, these wraps are designed for installing on an automobile and expected to be exposed to the OUTDOOR...

Not So Fast re: "Banning" Gas Stoves

#33 "convert the country to everything electric" ? Everything is ALREADY electric and good for all of us. No complaints. As was pointed out above, electricity is in ALL homes already in the U.S. Gas is in only 55% of homes and typically only fuels 3-4 appliances and usually can't even...

How to Get the Retro Appliance Color you want with a WRAP

One doesn't have to wrap all surfaces. If I were doing a freestanding stove I would do the front doors, sides and parts of the control panel. I'd leave the top unless I know I would be using the stove very sparingly. We have to remember this isn't saran wrap; it's designed for exterior use on...

In Your Opinion Best Refrigerator Design Post 1950's

I had that frig around 1999 I bought at the Sears warehouse.  I think it was bisque and it came in two sizes: 18 and 21 c.ft.  and with or without the ice maker.   My guess is the doctor who owns the clinic got a newer frig at home and moved this one to their office.

    Belt Drive Whirlpool?

Yep DD model.  I bought the near TOL model as a gift for my mother in 1991 along with the matching electric dryer in almond.   I guess your shopping for appliances for your pricey new crib?   lol.  I'm curious what one finds on the island.  So many stereotypes I'm tempted with.

Wow the colors When it comes to retro appliances it's all about design and colors for me.  To be able to 'custom' order the colors is awesome. I love those pastels.  What are your color(s)?   Maybe you like the Poppy red that was exclusive to Frigidaire for a few years?   I'm not really...

    Opinions on vintage GE ranges

The second range looks very sleek for an 80s range. I doubt it's that bad as it's been there for 35+ years and still working. If one is looking for a "true" GE range that harkens way back to when 40" ranges were popular, it might not be the best choice. As for WHO wraps their appliances-...

#14 The model above being from the 80s, It was probably after GE stopped making the slow selling 40" models so they contracted out to someone else.

    Took everyone's sound proofing advice

I like it It's a good idea.   I would just make sure not to create traps where moisture can get stuck and cause rust or mold.   Where the outside tub sets on the main frame I have put on the bottom of that outside panel, when I had such a top load Kenmore washer, roll foam weather...

    Opinions on vintage GE ranges

The wraps are supposed to endure uv rays, wind, rain, and snow.  I would think they could handle being inside on an appliance that gets warm-hot on occasion.   We should ask if anyone's done this and what the results are/were.   Regardless of where #2 was built, that is a late 70s to 80s GE...

Not So Fast re: "Banning" Gas Stoves

Hail damage is a rarity to solar panels. Yes there are a few states like texas, oklahoma, and florida that are more likely to experience severe hail or wind damage but it isn't just solar panels that will be damaged by the likes of grapefruit sized hail.    If you had a solar array...
