Awesome washer! Congrats on a great find. Love the mini-lint filter so you don't have to remove it to add/remove clothes.

Everything You Remember And Miss About ... Sears

Thankfully one of my Mom's good friends worked in the appliance department of the Eureka, CA Sears store, located in what was then called "The Mall" (Eureka was and is a small town in the middle of nowhere on California's north coast -- population approx 30,000). While my Mom and her friend...

Everything You Remember And Miss About ... Sears

As a kid, I do remember eating at a Sears Coffee House in a large store in Sacramento. Very similar to the “Winky Wards” in-store cafes in larger Montgomery Ward stores.

    Maytag 30 Second Spray Rinse

And of course the Norge/Wards solid tub machines also had a spin spray during the final spin after the overflow rinse. That was the end of our ‘62 Wards Signature when we moved to an area in Northern California that had rusty water. The final spin spray and solid tub combined with rusty water...

    Maytag 30 Second Spray Rinse

Hope I don’t get into trouble going slightly off (brand) topic, but of the 4-5 Wards and Norge washers I had, the spin sprays varied in different models from a one-minute mid-spin spray, a four-increment mid-spin spray, and the spray beginning before the machine kicked into spin. Again, wonder...

during the course of 2023 if you had to buy a vintage washer to replace your modern washer

And now here I am in Hawai’i (Big Island), after leaving drought-stricken California. I live near Hilo, where we get approximately 120 inches of rain per year. Water is not a problem here at all so I agree with Tolivac — Fill ‘er Up! You need water to wash clothes!

I had a ‘74 LK and it didn’t have the colored buttons…I believe the ‘73-‘74 models did away with the color-coding…

    Huebsch?!

So I just moved to Hawaii and am renting short-term until my new house closes escrow. The rental house does not have a washer or dryer so I have to schlep to the laundromat. It’s been many years since I’ve had to do so, and since I had to liquidate my vintage washer/dryer collection because it...

Solid Tub Norge - knocking for parts!

Ben, thank you so much for rescuing this machine and I hope you can bring it back to life. I just never had the time to dig into it and know these machines are rare as hen’s teeth so anything you can do, I’m with you in spirit! (I guess for me now that would be “aloha spirit!”) Cheers, Todd

    New Members of the Collection

Those shoe strings were installed in both their washers and dryers by the manufacturer so when you popped the top, it wouldn’t fall of/backwards. Pretty clever!

    Skinny Mini!

The skinny-mini already went to the crusher — no takers here or on Craigslist/Facebook. I still have an 80s Wards Signature I will be posting soon. I also have a mid-80s Whirlpool set (washer needs wig wag which I have new replacement part). The 1930 Maytag wringer is also still available...
