Anyone Still Using IE Should Stop - Seriously

    >but why are most people still using ANYTHING from MS. I've wondered this at times, too. I suppose a lot is a "path of least resistance" or something like that. "The computer comes with Windows, and so why not just use that?" "Everyone uses Office!" And so on. I buy my computers used, and...

Anyone Still Using IE Should Stop - Seriously

    >Have long grown weary of MS and their "you must upgrade" games. I can appreciate this. It can be annoying. That said...there are real security arguments for moving past Windows 7. Particularly if one is doing anything that benefits from security (e.g., online banking). Also thinking long...

Anyone Still Using IE Should Stop - Seriously

Current MS Office suite is fine It's probably more than fine for most users. It's always interested me that new versions come along regularly, which probably brings tons of new features. And yet the average person probably has no real need or use for those features. I remember one time when...

What laundry products do you use and why?

I have poor--no, terrible loyalty to any product. I almost always buy different detergent each time. It may be something I've had in the past, but almost never the same stuff two times in a row. I'm influenced by price, and also (sometimes) curiosity about a product. I tend to prefer...

Anyone Still Using IE Should Stop - Seriously

One thing that interests me about IE is the local library. I recall they were all too happy to switch to IE from Netscape around 2000 on their public Internet terminals. I think there might have been claims that "everyone uses it!" Now, no one uses IE...and the library is still sticking with it...

Anyone Still Using IE Should Stop - Seriously

Opera was once my default browser (about 10 years ago). It used its own technology, and ran nicely even on the dated hardware I had. Unfortunately, times change... It's now based on Blink, which is used by Google Chrome. So the advantages of the old Opera--at least based on my limited...

Anyone Still Using IE Should Stop - Seriously

    >buggy, bloated and not very secure. Windows in general falls along those lines, but MS has been making strides. >No, didn't upgrade to Windows 10 and really don't see the need. >I understand Microsoft are shortly going to discontinue support for Windows 7 so no more software updates, bug...

What is the deal with Persil?

    >(only scented liquid and sometimes the powder can be found), but the good stuff (Tide Coldwater Free/Gentle) is only sold up north in Canada. I haven't seen the powder in years. Last time I can recall, for sure, was about 10 years ago. AFAIK it's not listed on the Tide website, so it's very...

What is the deal with Persil?

Cold water and Tide: the line on their website is that Tide Coldwater is rated down to 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Other versions are apparently rated only to 60 degrees Faherenheit. So...the person routinely using cold water would still (in theory) be better off using Tide Coldwater.

What is the deal with Persil?

As for whether Persil (and Tide) is worth buying vs. something cheaper... I think this is very much a "your mileage varies" deal. Some people probably would find cheapest detergent good enough. Other people could get by on nothing less than a top tier detergent. I have to admit...I was pretty...

What is the deal with Persil?

One line I've used to amuse myself (and I think perhaps even cashiers at the store) is that Persil adds European flair to my laundry room.

What is the deal with Persil?

    >Persil gets about a foot of shelf space in most stores and tide products get about 50 feet. I've noticed that, too. But, of course, Tide has more varieties. I wonder if there aren't even people working directly with Tide at P&G who may not remember all the variants...

New Persil "10 Dimension" Clean - I quite fancy it.

    > I finished an older supply of Persil 2in1 liquid and started on a newer jug labeled "10 Dimensions of Clean" and the residual scent is much less, to the point that it's barely discernible when the washing and drying finishes and non-existent a couple days later. Is this newer jug also 2in1...

Heads Up! Persil On Sale This Week At RiteAid

Oddly...I was in Rite Aid yesterday, and it appeared that Persil was on sale, even though it's not listed in the local flyer. Although I forgot to check to see if the sale was current (make sure the tag I saw at a distance wasn't something they forgot to remove from a past sale). It appeared to...

New Persil "10 Dimension" Clean - I quite fancy it.

    >sophisticated, complex, intriguing scent. So unlike all the cheap, simple, tacky American scents As mentioned above, I tried a sampler of "Original" in late 2017. I remember liking the scent when I first smelled it. And yes, it seemed more complex and interesting than most detergents. But...I...

New Persil "10 Dimension" Clean - I quite fancy it.

Do you remember anything about the specific variety of Persil? I think "10 Dimension" is something that might be used across the line, but can't remember for sure. In any case, it's nice to hear about some variety with improved restraint! I tried "Original" sampler bottle which I found at...

Heads Up! Persil On Sale This Week At RiteAid

I checked my local RiteAid ad, and I don't see Persil mentioned for this week. But they do have a deal for Tide, with some babble that suggests a downloadable coupon.

Heads Up! Persil On Sale This Week At RiteAid

I can't say for sure, since I don't shop RiteAid much, but I'd guess the "load to card" bit would be digital coupons loaded onto a RiteAid customer loyalty card (through the RiteAid website).

    1959 Zenith HiFi stereo

    >I recall at some point, maybe it was in the 70's, that Zenith was sold off and the new products didn't seem to have the quality of the old American made ones. It was sold in the 1990s to LG. I can remember reading the newspaper articles at the time. Sad ending of an era for US electronics...

    College cafeteria memories--good and bad

I've been thinking of the school cafeteria discussion currently going on here in Super. At some point, I began wondering about college cafeteria experiences good and bad. Favorite meals. Detested meals. And so on. I never lived in a college dorm, so I personally had zero experience. My vision...
