MS Is Killing Off Mail & Calendar - It's Redesigned Outlook Or Nothing

At work we switched over to Google calendar last fall to keep track of our in-house respiratory therapist appointments. It works well enough for our needs.

Businesses in your area “in the middle of nowhere?”

The one business in my area that comes to mind as being kind of in the middle of nowhere is Brickner Motors in Little Chicago, WI which is located at the intersection of County Hwy A and State Hwy 107 about 11 miles northwest of town. They've been in business selling Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and...

    Another percolator question

You can use the Cascade if you don't mind the stem and basket getting slightly discolored. However, I would recommend taking the basket and stem out right after it's done perking, and just follow the same routine you used for your stainless-steel perks.

    New boiler after 66 years

The installers or a sales rep should be willing and able to come over and give you a quick tutorial on how to most effectively operate your new boiler. I'm sure it isn't complicated, but it has more electronics than your previous one for sure.

    Thrift store percolator

I did the DW detergent trick with a Corning Electromatic coffee maker I found at an estate sale a few years ago, and the difference was unbelievable. The inside was as black as night before I cleaned it. Afterwards it looked like brand new. I'm sold on this cleaning method!

New to me 1957 NORGE Customatic

My Mom's cousin had this exact same model because I vividly remember the triangular handles with the button in the middle. They bought theirs new in 1956 and took it with them to the new house they built in 1978. It was relegated to the basement bar area in the new house. Unfortunately, I don't...

Are You Using Too Much Laundry Detergent & Or Other Products?

Wausau Chemical detergents Don (Jetaction) and I are both users of the detergents from Wausau Chemical. The instructions on the box state that only ¼ cup is needed for a 12lb. load. And it still contains STPP. I prefer the lemon, but this last time they only had the blue version on hand. It was...

    Childhood home /vintage things

My parents sold my childhood home in September of 2022. I live just 2 blocks away, so I more or less have to drive past it to get my house. They have done some nice improvements such as adding a 3/4 bath upstairs (previously only a full bath on the main level), built a fire pit in the backyard...

Washing plastic shower curtains? Yeah no

Hints from Heloise..... These are the directions I follow when washing our shower curtain liner. However, I use ammonia instead of bleach to deodorize it. It has never disappointed me.     Hints From Heloise: Cleaning shower curtains - The Washington Post

Washing plastic shower curtains? Yeah no

We've had the same vinyl liner for about 10 years, and it is washed about once a month with a normal load of bath towels. Hot water, detergent, ammonia, BIZ, and a light dose of fabric softener. Immediately afterwards it is hung back up. It has never gone in the dryer. I have hung it out on the...

    "bad"'70s cars that...

My dad bought his aunt's 1978 Granada Ghia from her in 1989. It had 10,002 original miles on it. I had aftermarket cruise control installed in it and the rear leaf springs replaced. It also had the base 250 straight 6 cylinder engine. Once it got up to highway speed she was a great cruiser that...

    ORANGE CAKE RECIPE

"Today, Wisconsin still has some margarine laws. Restaurants cannot legally serve margarine unless they also offer butter. Schools and prisons must serve butter to students and inmates, unless a doctor provides a valid health reason. Breaking these laws can bring fines and even jail time, but...

    Singer "Featherweight" Sewing Machines

My great-aunt Ella had a Featherweight because she mostly lived in apartments most of her adult life and this was a more compact option for her. When she passed in 1989 my Grandma Baumann took it with big ideas of using it instead of her Singer treadle machine. Well, that never happened. I think...

    Phosphate dishwasher detergent problems

We use Hytron dw detergent which is a lot like the old Electrasol formula. It is loaded with chlorine and STPP. It performs great for us, and our water heater temp is set at 130ºF.  https://stearnspkg.com/all-product?format=raw&task=download&fid=1505
