Clotheslines

This photo was taken March 21st. We've had this U-shaped clothesline for over 15 years now. The company that makes them also makes cattle stalls. It's the same steel tubing and coating that's used for the stalls. Ours is the 20ft version. These are also very popular with the Amish...

Mixmaster, Pound Cake and Watkins Vanilla

Thanks Eddie!!! Yes, I'm one the people who have and will continue to sing the praises of Watkins Vanilla. I'm a 4th generation user. And my Euro Style Mixmaster is my daily driver. I've never used anything else but Mixmasters. I'm a 3rd generation user for that.

    Fighting virus boredom.

To boost our spirits while at home I thought a little line dried laundry might do the trick. Scents can influence a person's mood a great deal.

    POD 3/21/2020

Barry, For me it would be the mid 60's thru early 70's version of Oxydol. Reminds me of playing outside as a kid and smelling that freshly washed laundry as Mom hung it out to dry.

NOS woodtone GE drop in range

John, The part about the warranty is too funny. I wonder if they would still do that now?

    POD 2/28/20

Is it just me or does the Coronado wringer advertised in today's POD strongly resemble the fabled Whirlpool Surgomatic?

The votes were punched onto the paper roll, and then when they were taken to city hall where they were fed into a reader. This was very much like the old IBM punch card computer systems.

My great-aunt Grace always made her egg coffee in a large white enamel pot w/ red trim which was given to me several years ago by my cousin.

The dishwasher detergent cleaning method works great! What I've done in the past though is to let the mixture cool down a bit after perking and wash the inside with a dishcloth. You'd be amazed at how much the crud is loosened up. Also do the same with the basket, stem, and cover. Follow it...

Industrial Products from Jamestown, NY: Voting Machines

Our neighborhood elementary school was the polling place when I was a kid. The voting machines were set up on the north end of the gym, and the cafeteria tables on the south end. My great-aunt Adela was a poll worker in our precinct. When she would take her lunch break she would come and sit...

    Hot dogger

My parents have the Presto version as seen in photo #1. I really liked them made that way. A quick way to serve a hot lunch to a bunch of kids during the summer when mother is busy with other household duties. Nothing beats electrocuted food!

    reasonable gasoline prices;

On our trip home from Mayo Clinic I took note of gas prices on the way home. It was $2.39 in Rochester & Zumbrota, MN. In Red Wing, MN it was $2.13 & $2.24. In WI the average price along our route was $2.32. And just up the street from our house it's been at $2.29 for a few weeks now.

Rick, Yes, a punched paper roll was produced, and these were taken to the city clerk's office to be read. Next to no tampering was possible with this type of ballot. Our town was still using them when I turned 18 in 1969. I think they were only around another year or two before being scrapped.

Hans, The round models remind me of wringer washers.

A new to me appliance store.

An ad for this appliance outlet here in town popped up in my Facebook feed today. Looks like they have some pretty decent pricing, and product selections. https://www.wausauoutlet.com/

    Oil Lamp soot issue

This is what our church uses in our liquid wax candles. No problems with smoke or soot at all. We've been using it for over 25 years. https://www.almy.com/Category/KerryLiquid

    Who made the “deepfreeze”?

Cadman picked up an original "Deepfreeze" brand freezer in Jan., 2014. It is from the late 1940's. https://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?50555

FREE to Good Home in Bay Area: Sunbeam Toaster

Our Sunbeam T-20B is kinda quirky. I find that if I put the bread in upside down it toasts more evenly. Don't ask me why, it just does. Oh well, who cares as long as it comes out nice and crisp, and on the dark side the way I like it.
