What school food was your favorite, if any?

My parochial school received a lot of government commodities for use in the hot lunch program.  Mrs. McDonald and her staff (Marianne & Doris) sure did a fantastic job turning them into some great tasting foods.

What school food was your favorite, if any?

The cafeteria food at the parochial school I went to was all homemade.  The head cook's name was Valeria McDonald so we used to joke that we ate at McDonald's every day.  Her homemade pizza was out of this world, and her crazy cake.  Soup days were some of the best by far though.  Val and her...

Does Anyone Still Use A Fax Machine?

A window company  I worked for had wholesale customers that wanted faxes of  drawings before the window units went into actual production.  They would mark any changes the retail customer may have made, and then send them back to us.  We would make any changes on our end, and resend them for...

A different type of Sunbeam Coffeemaster

So this morning I experimented to find out exactly how long it takes to brew a pot of coffee from start to finish with this machine.  To make it easy I used the timed outlet on our undercounter kitchen clock radio.  I set everything up last night, and the timer was set for 5:45AM.  When I walked...

A different type of Sunbeam Coffeemaster

Ralph, Now that you mention it I've seen a similar type K-Mart branded machine online awhile back.  If memory serves me right I think it had something similar to the Corning Spice-O-Life pattern on it.

A different type of Sunbeam Coffeemaster

I had a few extra minutes during work today so I stopped at an estate sale today and this came home with me.  I'll use it for a while and if I don't care for it it will be donated to one of the local charity shops.  I did run a pot of water through it, and was kind of surprised that it heats the...

Help me choosing a coffee maker

One can never go wrong with a vintage Norelco Dial-A-Brew.  The unit in the photo was found at a church rummage sale about 6-7 years ago for $5.00.  My wife has a standing order that if I see one at a estate/tag sale I'm to buy it.  We have 2 spares already, but she wants to be on the safe side...

    Breakfast with Dominion.

It isn't very often that I get the chance to make breakfast on a Saturday morning.  I've been craving homemade waffles for quite some time so today it was time to satisfy my desire.  I found this waffle iron in my Grandma Baumann's living room closet when cleaning out her home about 10 or so...

Party Line Telephone Service - Tell Me Why

My parents were on a party line until the mid '80's.  At the time I had a clock radio with a phone that was set up for a private line only.  When the phone in my bedroom would ring my sisters and I would pick up and eavesdrop until Mom or Dad caught us.  I still remember the name of the lady on...

    Modern Living: Part Five

Post # 1020480 Reply # 1 We have a set of those Regal stainless steel mixing bowls that my late mother-in-law received from saving Raleigh cigarette coupons.  They are so handy to have, and still look great all these years later.

Kitchen Appliances That Never Quite Fullfilled Their Promises

Thanks Sam, My mom had one of those Micro-Go-Rounds that she loved.  We had a 1984 Amana Radarange that it was used in.  It was a Christmas gift from my aunt & uncle.  When it quit working I think they were no longer available in stores.  I remember mom was kinda bummed about it.
