    '61 Kenmore dryer lubrication

Hi there! Just broke the blower belt on the old gal, so I figured it was time to tear down and clean/lube everything. Question: what do you use to lube the rear drum bearing? This is the newer configuration that does not have a hole on the shaft. Should I use grease, oil, and what type...

    1961 Kenmore washer tub baffle

Hey there! Since I rebuilt the '61 Kenmore I've had a problem with suds. Even when I use HE detergent, there is so much suds created UNDER the basket (between the basket and the outer tub). There won't be any suds on top of the clothes, but the machine kicks into spin and starts creating...

    Kenmore BD clutch slippage question

My 1961 Kenmore washer quit last night. The main pulley came loose and off! I got it back on, put on the belt, but now when the machine goes into spin mode, the clutch does NOT slip hardly at all. It slips a tiny bit, but not like it should. I read somewhere to spray the lining with silicone...

    Help! Kenmore visimatic trouble

A Beautiful Rebuild!! Back in 1992, at our local Salvation Army Thrift Store, I scored a '67 Lady Kenmore wringer washer that apparently had never been used! (or very, very, very little) This baby still had a paper sticker attached to the front of the wringer giving brief usage instructions...

Haier Countertop Dishwasher lower wash arm sticks

I just recently acquired a Haier HDT18PA countertop dishwasher. I know they have a horrible reputation, but this sucker does clean very, very well. I have fixed the leaks that cropped up, but I have noticed that the lower spray arm (I only have a lower, no upper Thank God!) gets stuck on the...

FSP 21114 pump to cabinet hose

Of course Whirlpool has discontinued this hose without listing a replacement. However, when I punch it up on amazon, a 3348552 hose comes up with a blurp about see 21114. Is this 3348552 a replacement hose that just needs to be shortened? Or do you just rig something up? I know the original...

    Magnavox Concert Grand

My '60 Concert Grand has the phantom remote control. The phantom chassis contains a selenium rectifier Magnavox 530060-1, and just says model 10 on the unit. I want to replace it with a modern diode as I am rebuilding the unit. What do you guys use in place of that small selenium rectifier...

    early 60's Frigidaire dishwasher

I have an opportunity to obtain an early 60's Frigidaire dishwasher that has been in storage for many years. I have no experience with Frigidaire (my KitchenAid KDS-14 held up in storage without being used for over 15 years) so can anyone tell me how these Frigidaire's hold up in storage? Do...

    dried out rubber hoses

I read about restoring dried out rubber by spraying it with silicone lubricant then sealing it up for a few days. Tried it. It works if the rubber hasn't cracked and too far gone. Soaked my bleach dispenser hose in silicone for 3 days. It softened up like new. Anyone else tried this?

Needs a push to start spinning

Worn or out of adjustment basket drive. There should be 1/16th inch clearance I believe between the clutch plate and where it contacts the pulley. My grandmas 59 Kenmore got the same way after 15 years or so. Plus it needed center post bearings. It got scrapped for a boo Kenmore, large...

finally finished the '61 Kenmore set

Changed the oil in the gearcase and added a little "Power Punch" as well. Quiet machine! I've never heard a Kenmore so quiet, especially during the neutral drain! I'm in heaven. Lol

finally finished the '61 Kenmore set

Unfortunately I couldn't afford to use all OEM parts. Used Hemline agitator shaft and Hemline basket drive. Hope they hold up. But I try to be easy on the old girls!
