What do you call it ?

Guilty of calling it "stove" at times, but specifying if gas or electric, I use "range" most of the times. It says in UK they call them hobs when induction? Bah. I have always seen British people referring to them as "cookers" no matter how it gets hot, it is confusing too as it sounds more...

The new energy labels - Shocking in 2 ways

Of course as the whole equilibrium changed and people here became increasingly poorer we more than often are now forced to buy china made... Low quality kind china made of course. As because of the higher cost people cannot afford something better. If a low income family needs a frying pan...

The new energy labels - Shocking in 2 ways

That is greediness, period. It is not about capitalism to me. Capitalism can work and actually worked well. Still could. With clear rules. With ethics. Yes they did that to increase profits, of course, and the governments did not see it as a problem back then and or did not care about and...

    Worst washing machines

Also I liked very much the double agitator feature given by some in the past. By the way it is being copied by some manufacturers today but in my opinion only as a marketing gimmick.

    Worst washing machines

I agree with what you said on rollover and washing. But a decent rollover is important to assure everything goes down evenly where the action happens And yes, I had same thought, though it says it relies on longer soak times and very short wash time so same technique older 1 speed machines...

    Worst washing machines

Jeans or whatever thick and rigid such as a rag never went along well with short fast strokes. Especially if no dual actiotn spiral was present. That was so even with later Maytags and even GE's. I remember having to "underload" my Maytag commercial and put jeans very loosely to get proper...

It doesn't look all that bad, does it?

    Worst washing machines

Honestly Patrick, it doesn't look like it is a great turnover though. DD machines gave more turnover and beating even having that short (fast) stroke vs the machine you show though. Some shredded stuff, yup that is also why gearbox speaking I like a million times more the wig wag system. ...

    Worst washing machines

There are many today that would fit in the "worst" category. One of the worst and ugliest useless machine of all time I think was the Indesit Moon that by the way got recently re-proposed IIRC. Newer Candy Bianca is another. But again so many to mention... [this post was last edited...

    Happy 20th Anniversary...

Thank you! And: Happy anniversary!! (A little late) It seems yesterday to see a 12-13 years old me in front of a Microsoft 98 at dad's shop office or city library waiting for washer pictures and posts to download (it took like 10 mins for a thread) print and collect them in books I made to...

The new energy labels - Shocking in 2 ways

I'm hopeful that whoever will stumble on this thread and will follow the outcome will also read the rest. Especially Robert and if he'll be called to take action. Losing his time. I have also received PM messages thanking me for writing what I did as as...

The new energy labels - Shocking in 2 ways

You are right. But as I said another time I have no intentions to post anything on that forum section even of I could as am upgraded, I gave clear reasons for it. Reasons that someone even perceived being rude. So it all boils down to whoever start a certain kind of off topic discussion...

The new energy labels - Shocking in 2 ways

Regarding politics: Said that, in order to keep the thread accessible to non donating members I am very OK to have my political posts removed - deleted as long as others also are. As I would feel bad if It had to be shifted to dirty section like the other one for which i felt bad too. ...

The new energy labels - Shocking in 2 ways

You are right Marco. In fact I just recently made your exact same point for what concerns companies greediness, right to repair and all of that in another similar thread that went much or less like this one and was then moved to the dirty forum. Again, I still need to understand what do...
