A near final Canadian filter flo

Thanks guys!   It does have the mini basket option on the water level switch, and it also mentions it on the control panel.    This machines outer tub and transmission are longer than the standard capacity machine I picked up last month, I was hoping that I could do a swap but no luck. Both...

A near final Canadian filter flo

This popped up on Kijiji for $20, couldnt lose. Its a TOL Canadian filter flo from April of 1993, just before NAFTA became a thing. I wanted this machine since it was unique, being TOL, and since I was also looking for a machine with a good outer tub and transmission.   However, as you will...

    Porcelain on steel rusting

My KDS-21 has the cancer around the rinse aid dispenser. About half of the bottom portion of the cut out has rust, and Ive subsequently taken the machine out of service since it seemed to spread pretty quickly. Has anyone repaired rust on porcelain on steel?

Old washers and water usage cost.........

The water utility in Halifax charges your consumption based off a cubic meter, or 1000 litres, of water. Base charges on their own are about $80 per bill, and the bill is sent out quarterly. Domestic water in is 97 cents a cube, and then waste water is 1.74 a cube. The utility looks at your...

Has there been any solution to spider-arm corrosion?

Id be very interested to see how water condition plays in to the corrosion. Jamming untreated or unsoftened water in any metalic environment is a great way to cause corrosion.   Dissimilar metals is a great way to cause corrosion. Its happened, and it will happen. Connect carbon steel piping...

    Automatic Washer Water Consumption

Wow. I have to say Im actually impressed with how much the GE FF doesnt use. I really thought it was about 60 gallons.

    Automatic Washer Water Consumption

Maytag texts suggest the perm press consumption is another full fill like LowEffeciency said. Im still interested to know what the FF consumes.

    Automatic Washer Water Consumption

What would be the water consumption for all our favorite machines, like Frigidaires, Whirlpools, Kenmores, Maytags, GEs, Hotpoints, on a full load?   I know the pre orbital Maytags are around 150-170 litres per cycle, or 40-44 US gallons for a complete cycle.   I wonder what a filter flo...

    Farewell Maytag Neptune

Well I hate to tell ya John, but thats what buddy told me. He stated the liability they were told was on leaks, not blowing up. One of my neighbours sons is a tech and he told me once when I asked him for a Tony Tool that his company just replaces the whole tub, essentially condemning the...

    DD washer recommendation

There is also the super high end Kenmore Elite models which had the Catalyst wash system. Any of the wide, rear opening lid Kenmores are usually TOL, with most in that style having automatic dispensers for bleach, detergent, and fabric softener.   Hey Yogi, or anyone, what was the total water...

    Farewell Maytag Neptune

I had a tech in to replace the smooth top on my brand new stove after Home Depots contracted movers dented it during delivery. The tech and I got talking about the Neptunes and their bearings. He said WP will only warranty bearing repairs if you buy the whole outer tub with new bearings pressed...

    Another one bites the dust....

There is no sense losing sleep over scrapped rare and vintage parts. Sure its sad, but its not the end of the world. Sometimes machines can become so frustrating. I reckon there is little market outside of us who want these parts and machines, and I often wonder if anyone is really willing to...

Frigidaire Front Load washers are JUNK!

Solenoid operated dispensers? Hey Martin, did some of these not have solenoid operated dispensers? How would the bleach dispenser work?   I agree, Ive been meaning to find one of these, theyre sturdy machines which can hold a whole lot. I also like that some machines seem to do a short spin...

US front loaders from the 70s and 80s

Aside from Westinghouse, which brands made front load washers during the 70s and 80s for home use? Post pictures if you can!   Also, what is the model of Westinghouse front loader they made during that time?

Near end of the line, bottom of the line, Filter Flo acquisition

Hahaha more like Suds-line-saver Yogi.    Now, this is what confuses me greatly now. I found a tag on the inside that said it was assembled in Mexico in Feb of 1992. But the serial number on the side says Feb of 1993. THEN to top it off, the model/serial tag says it was made in the US? Unless...

Near end of the line, bottom of the line, Filter Flo acquisition

All the literature Ive read for this year production shows this is a BOL machine in the GE lineup. In Canada, in the late 80s and early 90s GE switched to being a MOL to TOL producer, with marquees like McClary and Moffat selling the one dial wonder machines. So this is a BOL machine. As I...

Near end of the line, bottom of the line, Filter Flo acquisition

Ive missed a few FFs that have came up on Kijiji, but finally one broke though which I was able to buy. A single speed, BOL FF made in Feb of 1993, near the end of the production line. Its made in the USA which is interesting since all of the GE machines Ive bought were made here in Canada by...

    Original Prices of Vitage Appliances

I cant remember where I found it but the A712 I have was $1200 in 1986. Ive also seen sales slips for Inglis, which is Whirlpool, belt drive machines for around the $5-600 mark for mid 80s.   The Quebec government has an archive of old newspapers and flyers, you can search brand names and get...
