Laundress That is an interesting read. I just wish I knew how that maps to US Extra HOT, HOT, WARM, COOL and COLD. Guessing it would be impossible because it's different between manufacturers. It's a relief to see that less hot temps are needed to do a good job these days.

I had the whirlpool version of that DW. Only difference I can see is the silverware basket in the door. Great machine. I believe that may be convertible. At least the whirlpool version was.

We had an OEM version of that washer (Ambassador, sold at Allied Stores, Jordan Marsh in this case). It was a work horse for a family of 5 boys. It broke down early in it's life but once the kinks were out it did quite well.

If you like whirlpool... Continue to purchase whirlpool. If you like GE continue to purchase their products. It's all about what you are comfortable with using and if you have had good luck with a particular brand appliance, I think you will continue to have good luck.
