    Mogul Lamp Questions.

The best mogul lamp I ever had all the standard features PLUS a nightlight base (though not marble, marbelized plastic) AND a 50's adjustable metal cone type reading light just below the candelabra! I was 11 when we moved to Phoenix, and my folks made me part with it as there was limited space...

    Mogul Lamp Questions.

COOL!! I'm NOT the only floor lamp geek! Dave, My fave type of lamp; glad to know somebody else appreciates them. As a teen had 5 of them! Now, just have one working, a combo of 2 different lamps(has the marble base with nightlight). Recently found one on the curb, so it is awaiting testing...

    Hello, New member here =)

Scott, Welcome! Also a Michigander, live in Lansing, but spend most warm weekends over near Saugatuck. Fantastic collections! No old washers YET, but have an old 50's elec. stove (green!) in our basement as well as late 60's early 70's side by side fridge. Both still work GREAT...

    They're UP!

Wow! Those are simply GAWJUS! One of my favorite designs; so Jetsonian! Wonder why they were only produced for 1 year. Seems like a huge expense to restyle after only a year. Many happy wash loads with them... Are they both working? Duane

    Push Button Frigidaire

Wish I were closer Tom, I'd take you up on that! Learned to bake on a turquoise 40" version of this stove... We replaced the 1969 40" Frigidaire a few years back with a 40" faux Frig... works OK, but nearly as heavy or sturdy as the '69! Duane

    Frigidaire Poppy Suprise!

Thanks Tom! I just wondered... Most of the other appliances in this house were Frigidaire; still have the green original 1954 30" Frig. stove in the basement, still works perfectly! Wished I'd scrounged harder for parts for the 1969 40" Frig. Custom Imperial that must have replaced it when...

    Frigidaire Poppy Suprise!

Did Frigidaire make Sears Coldspot fridges? We have, still plugging along in the basement, a brown (shaded edges) Sears Coldspot side-by-side from somewhere in the 70's... Still works well, but does seem there is something running all the time in it. It has different woodtone handles, and the...

    POD 12/29/11 Philco

Thanks, guys! WOW, turnover is MUCH better than I thought! That does seem to be a critical equation: tub size/type and what size/type of agitator. Looks like Philco switched to a more conventional design in the early 60's? Appreciate the comments, you lads ARE the experts! Duane

Anyone out there have one of these or remember exactly how well these worked? Am I correct in assuming that they didn't work well; doesn't appear the agitator design lasted long. LOVE the "7% cleaner" claim! Pure Madison Ave. hype; how could that ever be proven? Curious what folks have to say...

    Home Heating Systems.

Currently we heat with a 15-20 year old gas furnace. Keeps the place pretty comfy. For 3 yrs. on Beaver Island, MI, I heated with a combo of electric baseboard and wood fireplace. The fireplace just had the bi-fold glass doors, NOT a woodstove insert. The damper could be controlled with the...

Machines of Ill Repute, Volume I - The later D&M Kenmore

I think our last DW was a Kenmore of this design. Wasn't particularly quiet, and don't recall stellar performance either. When it went about 5 yrs. ago, we replaced it with a Kenmore Elite (Bosch design). Not certain that Greg would've been too excited about spending $750 for a DW, but Sears had...

Machines of Ill Repute, Volume III - The Norris Industries Thermador/Waste King

It has been really fun to read of your findings with these DWs. I laughed out loud a few times; you have a way with a phrase. And it is hard to see beyond the eye candy to the appliance behind! Thanks for taking the time to post these! Duane

Dragged home a 1954 Westinghouse Imperial 40 today

WOW! GAWJUS Ranges... What a HUGE oven! the 1955 white GE looks just like the one we had in Phoenix except it was turquoise. Learned to bake with that stove as a young teen. If only there had been room in the moving van... Someday, perhaps I'll find another. Enjoy your new acquisition ! Duane

The fridge is 50's, but don't you think the wall oven is a good 15-20 years newer?

    POD 11-30-11 Westy

Thanks! VERY COOL! I had front load White/Westies in a house I rented in the mid-90's Think they were from the early 80's, late 70's when the house was built. They were meant to be stacked, but were side-by-side in the master bed closet. Seemed like they washed OK, but were not nearly as...

Thanks! Yeah, growing up we had a turquoise GE 40" range with the pushbuttons in AZ. My folks ALMOST brought it with us to MI, but the truck was full... Learned to bake on the that oven; hope I can find one again someday!
