    POD 11-30-11 Westy

Does anyone have a late 50's -early 60's front load Westy? Sure seemed like they were cool, esp. the "Program Computer" ones. I assume all those pushbuttons made for a less than reliable machine. Seems like more of the earlier Westys turn up; wonder if they were more reliable, or were more...

    1957 Control Tower Dryer

Beautiful! Wonder why this design only lasted one year? Certainly some of the coolest looking washers and dryers ever! VERY Jetson!

    Combo Thread!

So interesting that the machines were redesigned almost every year! Much like cars of the era, if they did not get a new look then at least a very heavily face-lifted one! Love how many of them have lighted control panels. Those still would come in handy! Thanks everyone for sharing the pics. Duane

    Dishwasher POD 11-27-11

Thanks, Barry! Years ago, did have a Kenmore 70's portable in a condo in Chicago. Cleaned well, but suspect ALL 20 floors above us heard it when we ran it! NOISY! I think the best solution, IF one had the space and money, would be to mount it in a cabinet similar to a wall oven unit cabinet...

Thanksgiving weekend brought a lot more then just turkey!

Very cool that you found and saved it! Beautiful machine; looks like it had an easy life. Hope you enjoy it for many years to come. Duane

    Dishwasher POD 11-27-11

Does anyone out there have one of these and what brand is it?? I know some the early (20's-mid-50's) dishwashers were countertop height; sure makes more sense than undercounter! A few modern houses I've seen have had the DW mounted a bit higher, with a short cabinet underneath. Wonder why the...

    You can be sure!

I rented a house on Beaver Island, MI that had the stackable set from somewhere in the early 80's. They were placed side by side though in the master bedroom closet. I lived in the house for 3 years in the mid-nineties. An old widow owned the house, and I rented from executor of her estate after...

    UNUSED GE Pot scubber Dishwasher

Kenmore Elite = Bosch John, Our Kenmore Elite is a Bosch design with stainless tub. It is a tall one, but is about 3" shallower than the domestic designs (we learned this is to make it flush with European cabinets). The control panel has the same settings as the Bosch, but has small circular...

    UNUSED GE Pot scubber Dishwasher

VERY interesting thread! We replaced out old dishwasher about 6yrs. ago with a Bosch designed Kenmore Elite tall tub. Once Greg heard how quiet it was ( we have a 50's cape cod brick house, and you could hear the old 70's model running everywhere in the house!) he wouldn't settle for anything...

Any idea what year this washer came out? Is it an ad from another country? I've never seen a clock on a washer before, is anyone aware if any other manufacturer offered this option? Sure looks to be a TOL washer, does anyone have one in their collection? Thanks! Duane

    Kitchen Lighting

Folks, NEVER up the wattage beyond what it is listed, esp. in an enclosed fixture and in a house with older wiring. There is a reason that the wattages are limited: Incandescent bulbs put out A LOT of heat. As an electrician who has replaced many fixtures with fried wires, I know only TOO well...

These combos are so cool! Sort of amazed though at the 8 lb capacity. Seems SO low compared to today's machines. I realize these were pretty complex machines being both front-loader AND dryer... Did the capacity go up over the yrs. as with other washers? Does anyone have any combo that lasted...

    1957 Frigidaire set in Charcoal!

Wow, those are SO cool; probably my favorite GM laundry pair and in a color I've never seen anywhere... Not terribly far from me, but no money for them. It is shame that the price escalates SO quickly; keeps them out of the hands of some who could restore and cherish them. Do hope they go to...

Pictures from the warehouse visit today

Kinda funny... Thanks for posting these! Pretty certain my Mom had the 1963 600. Were these the MOL? I DO recall the turquoise ovals on the panel. We shared a two flat house wih my grandparents during the 60 and all the laundry was in the basement. Mom was quite proud of her new Kenmores, but...

    Vintage Appliances For Sale

Sellers often CLUELESS about age! Wow, it is really amazing sometimes how off the mark sellers are on the dates of their appliances! The pink oven and cooktop must be 60's, as is the "1940" Kenmore stove. The Magic Chef range could be late 40's early 50's. Thanks for posting these! Duane
