Discussion & Debate: The Advantage & Disadvantage Of 7/8kg Washing Machines.

I do believe that 7-8kg washers are essential, but the way t is ridiculous. 7-8kgs are OK, but it does depend on drum size. If a 7kg washing machine's drum is smaller than a 5kg's drum, then that's silly. Of course some people are big families and do require large loads, hence there are needs...

aquarius8000... You beat me to it to making an eBay thread! And that 9335 lol. The above machine is an Electra, not Servis, as it was made from a Creda. As for eBay beauties you missed one... A Servis 9700 washer dryer...

    Ariston

sorry I meant this one!!! The unknown Ariston is a WF561. Nevertheless, these machines are obvious Aristons badged as Hotpoint.

    Ariston

@aquarius8000 The ariston unknown is the last Hotpoint First Edition HVL211 http://www.ultimategradedappliances.co.uk/items/item.aspx?itemid=12082263

    Ariston

That dialogic was interesting, I'm sure that the dial pushed out and revealed more buttons. Anyone have any literature of its predecessor, the Mullinello? For my two-penny worth, an Ariston machine used in a BBC ident which was submitted to them!

    currys...

sorry, I wouldn't trust them... as far as I would throw them! It's part of the 'Currys Essentials' range joining the Essentials dishwashers and fridges. Not just that, they also seem to resemble Siemens washing machines...

The demise of the 1800rpm washing machine...

... I can believe that the 1800rpm only is marginally better at water extraction compared to 1600, higher spins speeds can be proportional to water extraction, but surely up to a point? Actually at the time when 1800rpm was gaining popularity (i.e. Zanussi joined the bandwagon with their two...

    Siemens WD12D523GB Washer Dryer

... The Siemens washer dryer is similar to washer dryers produced by Bosch, Neff, Smeg and Whirlpool, they have all had the same drum, and the newer models also share a redesigned drum too. Apart from Miele, this seems to be the only washer dryer I believe would last for a while...

    HOTPOINT MICROTRONIC £50

... I thought the lack of an angled fascia on the 17660 meant that it could be paired with the two dial machine 18580/18680 I think? (the one with the spin reduction dial) as well as the microtronic. Its successor the "New Generation" 93730 was also designed to go with the spin slider 95620 and...

The demise of the 1800rpm washing machine...

Thanks for the replies... I thought initially it was something to do with motor changes and the introduction of brushless motors, but that may have been ages ago. We also mananged fine with an 800rpm machine for nearly ten years too, and then 1200rpm therafter, also briefly a 1400rpm machine too.

    New Hotpoint Range

I think everyone needs to calm down as we've only seen the condensor dryer models, which, apart from the Aqualtis, doesn't have glass fronts. We've yet to see the vented dryer models, which are the TVAM70CP and TVAL73CG, those could still possibly have glass doors.

The demise of the 1800rpm washing machine...

So I was browsing the Miele website, and their top-of-the-line W5000 supertronic is impressive, juggling steam washing and auto-dosing, but has dropped the 1800rpm spin in favour of 1600rpm, compared to its predecessor W3985WPS. Now I think only Maytag offers that sort of spin. At one point...

New machine not without pain! lol.

Congratuations on the new machine as well... £21 for a Hotpoint Aqualtis is an absolute steal. Perhaps the seller fancied the steam version and made up an excuse to upgrade it. Shame about the Zanussi washer dryer though, it'll spend its days in the BHF shop reconditioned and priced for more...

    HOTPOINT MICROTRONIC £50

mysterious... So it sold in the end? A bit of a mystery, hmmm, I think someone here must have bought it, and they've yet to come forward, as it would mean nothing to anyone else except for us here. Anyway its nice to see some past material on Microtronics, like the brochures of the Microtronic...

    HOTPOINT MICROTRONIC £50

what a shame... Its been posted before as well, lovely machine, but £50 is a lot of money for a damaged machine, clearly the eBayer wants to milk the collectors here. It could be the only one in existance now. I do remember seeing one in the back of a car about seven years ago, it may have been...

    I thought it's a museum now :/

.... I instantly thought of Hoover when I watched on the news that BMW was planning to keep jobs in the UK by establishing new plants. I'm all for buying imported goods, but we should have something here too! I only wish Hotpoint or Hoover or another brand decided to try this too, at least we'd...

    What is this?

I CANNOT see the point of this... I initially thought it was a washer dryer, but it's a washer with a fan. Somehow I don't think it'l be effective, as it is simply circulating cold air to dry clothes, as well as it taking 16 hours. I think if we needed a machine to dry clothes, we'd need it...
