    New 2018 speed queen pictures

For John L- I noticed with the two most recent FL sets that I owned, that the control panel part of these white machines definitely discolored over their life times. My utility room has a bank of 4 of those standard-length fluorescent lights and I seldom cut them off; they tend to stay on day...

    Worst Bleach EVER!

Clorox Frigilux--I do, too. I don't use much bleach, so the difference in price between various brands doesn't influence me. It's 40F and wet down here in the Houston area where I live, and I hear the central heat going in my home. I've flown into MSP many times for meetings and I know...

No Consumer Speed Queen Front Loaders in 2018??

The Most Corrupt period for our US Congress was the last quarter of the 19th century, when big railroads and big steel, and the rise of big oil, combined to control the legislators. The Republican party has tirelessly worked to enable big money, for the last couple of generations, to have...

    1957 Blackstone Washer

Blackstone (or anyone else) I've never seen a Blackstone washer. I notice on this owner's manual I bought that the company says it's "America's Oldest Washer Manufacturer" in Jamestown, New York. Can someone on here fill me in a little on this company? Was it basically regional, is that...

    POD on Pearl Harbor Day

Mrsalvo- Those who know, know that regardless of our PC attempts, appearance does count. We know that first impressions exist in everyone and that they don't just disappear because some dweeb says it's bad behavior. It's not--it's human nature. When I was first in college, I grew a long...

Thanks, Kirk! Fascinating little video. I'm glad I just bought my 432, though, as I don't like the control panel. I think the new Maytag black panel is more attractive. Certainly looks substantial in this video.

    POD on Pearl Harbor Day

I still think, all these years later, that the Maytag marketing shown in today's POD was one of the best ever. That was when I first noticed center-dial Maytags because I don't remember any around when I was a kid. But that family--I can remember my parents dressing like that every week for...

No Consumer Speed Queen Front Loaders in 2018??

I Agree, I'm not interesting in any political debate at all. However, particularly as we live in a time in our national history where ugliness and intolerance are the rule more than the exception, I won't sit still on this or any other forum while asinine slurs are directed toward our public...

No Consumer Speed Queen Front Loaders in 2018??

No, Repair-man You must not have read the thread that prompted my response: "When was the last time anyone recalls when the "goobermint" (sic) got involved with something and it actually worked out?" Our government is us; it was Bonzo Reagan who started the idiot's concept that our method of...

No Consumer Speed Queen Front Loaders in 2018??

Every Day you drive on the highways. Every day that your police department works. And so on. Unpatriotic people living in this country disgust me.

    Board Games

I'm Old Enough to remember when we had to use a real potato for those! Like the smell of Play-Doh, some memories are just etched on our hard drives forever...

    1957 Blackstone Washer

Great! Just bought it--fantastic! It's interesting how the water temperature was apparently infinitely adjustable, as it states that one can choose hot, cold or medium, or anything in between. It's kind of neat, also, showing various servicing options.

    Vintage vs Modern Refrigerator-Freezers

Come to think of it, I'm not sure about when my Whirlpool does it. I know at times the popping noise, particularly late at night if I'm at the kitchen table, is loud enough to make me jump and wonder whether something's wrong. This unit, about 3yrs old, it definitely the noisiest I've ever owned.

mickeyd Does this washer limit hot water temp? Or does it have a heater? Unfamiliar with it-

Detergents Update: What are you using?

I Generally Find that this subject causes more arguments than it settles. We just had a cold front come in overnight in the Houston area. It's rainy, dreary, chilly and a great day for nesting-

What's better than a GE rotisserie?

Cleaning How are these to clean? I made the mistake, years ago when they first came out, of buying one of those Ronco things that were basically impossible to clean. In roach heaven as we have here in Texas, that machine ended up in the garbage. I purchased NOS one of those Farberware 'Open...

Washers on The Andy Griffith Show

Peyton Place 'Family' wasn't the first popular evening soap; Peyton Place was, from '64 through '69. It even came one at one time, two nights weekly. Not that I watched it, I was a kid and thought it was stupid. I was in college when 'Family' came out and I thought it was great.

    POD/Combo

tomturbomatic- Thanks for the great reply. Question--are today's LG and other brands of combos redesigned and thus a wiser purchase? IOW how do today's stack up in terms of design and assembly quality?

Washers on The Andy Griffith Show

lesto- I even own a bunch of episodes of Hazel on DVD but I don't ever remember even seeing where she washed! Where did she? I recall that the main camera in the kitchen set was where presumably a wall would be, and as we saw it, the range was on the left side near where her bedroom was, and...

    Vintage vs Modern Refrigerator-Freezers

I recently purchased the September, 1960, Consumer Reports on EBay. What fun to read these! Unlike today, regardless of whether one agrees with ratings, there is so much more comprehensive content than we ever see these days, where 'the beef' has been replaced with silly color photos and...
