They're Here! My AEG Set Has Arrived

Congratulations! You shot one of the best modern machines there are (were) on the German market. As Louis in Groningen said: One of the last ones that were made in Nürnberg. My best friend owns one like this, it has been going strong for the last 11 years flawlessly. Ok, the sounds got some...

HA! Got myself a cute "Wackelwürfel"

which one? hey Guy, I will keep an eye on that if you tell me which knob you need. (They are very rare here, too). And if you can make a diagram of the cycles, they might be slightly different from model to model. Just give me a shout. Joe

HA! Got myself a cute "Wackelwürfel"

a "wobbling cube" that is, a name that it is dubbed here with, you know: The small top loader AEGs like Novamat, 64SL, Lavamat 220-240 and so forth. Just 1.- € (pick-up only), ok the guy didn't have enough change in his pocket so it was some 2.30 alltogether. I just love that small little...

    Tesco voted Britain's worst supermarket

how to distinct Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd tow pics showing their logos. Aldil Süd is THE a..hole chain, Aldi Nord (not available here but just across the border to France) is somehat easier on their wording, yet a pain in the a... Reference: See picture.

    Tesco voted Britain's worst supermarket

good ones and bad ones I do like Tesco's, as they have replied to e-mail correspondence and they have acted according to what they have said, even towards here (Germany, that is "abroad" for them). I do not know about their employees' politics. Aldi; Netto, Plus, Norma, Penny and all those...

    Mosquito mats use worldwide....

Rich, I second that No UV zappers here: They kill just any insect going by (and most of my favorite pests are not among them) but they simply fail after one or two years use: The UV tube just does not attract any insects anymore. (Worthless, goes down and away to "poisonous recyclables" as a...

Enjoying first spring harvest - butter radishes

thanks so much This is really awesome, I've tried the radish greens as well. I've never thought they'd turn out so good and tender. Lovely! This reminds me of an old Bavarian recipe: Erdinger Rettichsuppe (Radish soup, Erding style) Take 1 white radish, diced the same amount of young...

Interesting Things On European eBay Sites

daft name "Noris" not daft at all, Gentlemen! Noris being the Latin-based nickname version of "Nürnberg" (Nuremberg) That is where the real quality Lavamats were built back then, before everything went abroad (and out of business later due to managers' speculations and miscalculations). AEG...

    Cleaning Products You Miss.....

Mop Mate by Amway Just love it. Nothing comparable here. The smell is just so "janitorial", it reminds me of school buildings (without the grumpy janitor alongside): Soapy yet wax-like in a way. Somewhat "bluish" just by the smell, yet so ozone-like and glassy (hard to describe smells though)...

The Super Market Forum on Vacuumland

especially because some offers are "fans only" Thanks Robert, Personally I would like that very much, as much of the stuff we are interested in is not of any concern to the regular buyer/seller. How often have we tried to sell some specialty washer or dryer or other stuff on the usual...

    Roach (and other vermin) Stories

roaches smell? How do they smell? One post mentions that you can tell by sniffing that a unit is infected. Sorry for asking this, but I have never seen live roaches in my life. The only thing we have here are some rare and single mice in the basement every once in a blue moon (or cold winter)...

Inspired by this thread: http://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?46010_10 I did some searching for the cute xylophone tune of the Laundromat dryer and came across this Westinghouse documentary (also on DVD) Sit back and enjoy.

    musical appliances

1956 Elaul In the 1950s the French company "ELAUL" launched a "Singing Coffee Mill". It featured a timer to preselect how coarse or fine your ground coffee would come out. At the end when time was up, a small mechanical music box in the bottom of the base unit would play a little melody...

    the real thing or?

Sleek! No better than that Would give my right arm for one of those (if in 220 volts version). Black or charcoal just are THE colors for me, forget about "Avocado" (pea soup) or "Golden Harvest" (corn mash) Plain white would be second choice for me, above all 70s' odd color schemes. J.

Strange stove I have never seen before!!!

Whoa! Love it! Now THIS is my style ;-) Put a PANK (punk) pressure cooker on it and it is mine. A gas welder, some steampunk UV goggles and a white apron "weird scientist" style... et voilà! Crème brulée for the underground scene. Ready for the chainsaw mascara. HA! ;-)
