My trusty 45-year-old Maytag A608 has a new leak!

Can you tell me just what parts of 206680 (which is widely available) won't work for my A608? I think I need the full assembly, meaning a kit with two hoses and the air gap and bracket, no? Isn't that what my photo above seems to show? I'm not even sure of the proper number on the old kit so I...

My trusty 45-year-old Maytag A608 has a new leak!

Thanks for your feedback. I think the hose from the air valve to the tub, with its seal, isn't going to be salvageable. The other hose seems to be in better shape, although I think while I'm at it I should replace both as well as the air valve between them. I'll have to scout around to see...

My trusty 45-year-old Maytag A608 has a new leak!

Absolutely correct, and I shouldn't have worried: two hex screws and the top lifts right up. Neat. Photo attached shows the mess I found. Water is leaking from the midsection of the hose. I think that's the air gap behind all the crud. It also leaks a bit where the hose meets the top of the...

My trusty 45-year-old Maytag A608 has a new leak!

Update: I do in fact see a dripping coming from the area of the hose that leads from the mixing valve in back into the tub, around the part of the hose where there is a corroded clamp. The leak seems worse when I'm feeding warm rather than cold or hot, for whatever that may indicate. How do I...

My trusty 45-year-old Maytag A608 has a new leak!

My trusty 45-year-old Maytag A608 is giving me trouble again. (After 45 years, who can blame it?) A few months ago, with super advice from Combo52 (thanks again, John!), I replaced a leaking drain pump. It's been purring ever since...until today, when the washer sprung another leak--from a...

Who knows about Maytag A608 drain pumps?

John (Combo52) hit it just right. I pulled the pump. No hole in the housing. Must have been the shaft seal. Replaced the pump. (Nice that the OEM part is still available.) All systems go. Thanks again for letting me put your experience to good use.

Who knows about Maytag A608 drain pumps?

Thanks to John (Combo52) for this educated reply. Based on your info I think I'll have to go for replacing the pump, although first I'll try to inspect the bottom of it (it looks OK from the top), which will mean tilting the machine far enough to get to the underside. (A 1979 washer: heavy.)...

Who knows about Maytag A608 drain pumps?

Leaking, yes, but I'm not convinced it has to be replaced. I thought if there's a way I can get inside the pump tank, where I'm sure there is crud collected, perhaps just removal of said crud would do the trick. If not, yes, new pumps are available. Maybe snake out through one of the hose...

Who knows about Maytag A608 drain pumps?

My A608 is now 45 years old. All I've ever had to do to it is replace a belt five years ago. Unbelievable! But now it's leaking out of the drain pump. The pump seems to be working. I can't tell just where the water is coming from, but the part of the pump that's above the washer floor seems...

Who's old enough to remember when THIS was brand new?

Americana Stove I have a similar stove to the one pictured above. However, mine has push button range controls on the top and a window on bottom oven door. The stove came with the house we just bought. The house was build in 1967. Anyone know how old this appliance is? Look forward to hearing...
