When I owned a Whirlpool made Kenmore Elite, I noticed that slimy gunk would collect on the filter very quickly if I didn't consistently use the sanitize option.  I used the sanitize option consistently, it need cleaning with less frequency.

Yes.  look for the temp switch on an A608 with four temperature selections.  Others will know for sure.

Lucky you!  Congratulations!  I can't tell you the exact year, but they are from the mid to late 70s.  What I love about my Maytag is that it goes about its business with no fuss and messing around.  It just gets the job done.  The key for me is being careful to overload it.

Nice!  My Dad bought my Mom one of those when her dishwasher (me!) left for college.  It was indeed loud, but it was a great performer. I never minded how loud it was because it sounded incredibly powerful!

I love seeing the progress you're making!  Thanks for letting us have a look at the wonderful work you're doing!  I restored an A407 then converted it to an A606.  However, your skills are far superior to mine!  I had fun learning, but it took making a lot of mistakes, as well as a lot of help...

I own the 3900 pair and really like them.  I still have my old Maytag A606 out in the garage that I fire up every now and then, but this front loader has grown on me.  I'll have to try the cuffs and collar cycle!
