I rarely use the sanitize option.  In most cases, it is unnecessary.  Also, just scrape the large bits off the dishes and put them in the DW.  In fact, The detergent's enzymes depend on the filth left behind on dishes in order to work effectively.

LG Washers & Dryers My LG 3900 washer was made here in the U. S.  The matching dryer was made in South Korea.

Maytag topload Save your money and buy the Speed Queen.  That Maytag is OK but it won't be nearly as durable.  I once owned it and had TWO warranty repairs within six months, one of which was the replacement of the gearbox.  Plus, it does provide 1/2 tub on the Normal/Eco cycle only; however...

The only top loader that I would recommend is a Speed Queen TC 5000.  But even with it, you only have a choice between half tub and full tub on water selection (like an old Maytag).  They are very reliable and durable and will last you a good 25 years.  Everything else will be on the scrap heap...

Unless you go with a Speed Queen TC5000, I would definitely repair the Maytag.  The overall repair will be cheaper than a new washer, AND you'll have a much more dependable and solid performer than most of what's on the market today.

Surge Protector I use one.  Don't know if it will do any good but better safe than sorry!

Tap Hot As far as I can tell, my LG 3900 provides tap hot.  But by the time the line is purged, it provides a nice warm wash.  That's why I select HOT on most wash cycles.  When I'm washing whites, I select "VERY HOT" to allow the heater to kick on.

Lint Filter I wonder if a linter filter is even necessary.  Today's fabrics don't lint the way they did in the past.  What is not washed away is caught by the dryer.
