trying to make room, a few pieces for sale

Ok, kids, My brother & I have finally come to the conclusion that we have WAAAAY too much crap.  We are running out of room for our core collection and we now need to off some things in order to save/buy others.  I am posting these with a heavy heart as I do really hate to sell some of this...

Have advertisers dropped the IEC fudge factor?

Companies are now using a DOE (Dept of energy) formula instead of the IEC.  It's enough to drive you bonkers trying to keep up with the sizes et al.   There was a thread here some time ago.

    The new LGs are comming

Why give away hoses & dryer cords when you can charge for th I still include new hoses and the correct cord on every new & used appliance I sell.  A package of 2 5ft inlet hoses costs me $8.50 and I buy in bulk.  It is an advantage for me, the little guy, to include hoses while the big boys...

Why are plastic gears so bad?

I used arm in my post.  My foggy brain meant clutch spring.  I corrected my earlier post.  I'm not sure why the spring breaks, but it seems to happen.  As to replace the snubber, you should release the brake spring.  It is under a lot of pressure.  I don't recommend doing this without a brake...

Why are plastic gears so bad?

As much as I'd love to say that metal always beats out polymers, on the Norgetag trannies I can't say that.  The nylon gears are very durable.  There is an clutch-type spring in these trannies that ends up breaking, not the gears.  The Performa washers do not have an off balance switch.  The...

    Normal?

Ok, you're Crosley is probably a Maytag Performa-based washer. They do have a strong pump on them. Most of the connections we do are to standpipes and not sinks. How tall is the pipe before the trap? Is there a trap? How big of a diameter of standpipe is it? Where does the standpipe go to? It is...

    Roper washer problem

I agree with John. I have NEVER seen a DD washer that leaked while spin-draining a full tub o' water. We sell a lot of these washers used and it just doesn't happen. When we get these washers ready for sale, we will fill the tub w/ h2o and cleaner. We let them soak an hour or so & then drain...

    high miles vehicles...

My 2004 Suburban has about 190,000 on it right now. It runs like a champ. I bought it from my oldest brother in 2008 with 140,000 on it at the time. He's a lawyer in CT and drives a bunch. IT does have some rust on the rear bumper from the CT winters. We have a 1993 F150 w/ 235,000 miles...

FL Tub Capacities - I think they are lying!

Here's the deal on tub capacities and the changing of the rated size. Some companies used IEC (international efficiency {i've also heard other names used instead of efficiency}}} commission) measurements and some used DOE (dept of energy) measurements. IEC used to be used exclusively for HE...

    Your TV stereo setup...

My current setup is a Mitsubishi 73" DLP 3d tv with the audio hooked up by optical output into a Panasonic dolby 7.1 amp. The speakers I am currently using are a whole set of Paradigm Labs that I stole at an auction for $35! I priced them out and the retail (at the time) was over $1200! There...

Everyone Please Read: As an Honor to Terry, I'm Posting This in the Imperial Forum...

I've never had the pleasure to meet Terry in person, but I have enjoyed his posts. I am sad to learn of his passing. The appliance/vacuum world lost a great person. It shows the make-up of the man when you see all the great responses and memories being posted. Sometimes you touch more people...

    Whirlpool drive coupling upgrade

These have been out for a few years now. The coupler still can crack around the metal. It's better than before but not foolproof. They can also break when being tapped onto the shafts of the motor & tranny.

    Returned the Speed Queen

27" dryers I agree with John on the 27" dryers. When I tear one down to recondition, the dryer is ALWAYS loaded with lint. Not one here or there, but every one. They are decent dryers, but they must be cleaned internally. The nice thing about the 27" is that they used teflon impregnated...

The Easy That Wasn't So Easy

Excellent find. I like the toggle switches. So simplistic, yet heavy duty looking (unlike or maybe even like our own toggleswitch(!) that runs around on here LOL!!).

Brewing Beer with a Washing Machine

I've brewed for years and recently got into whole grain brewing.  I've also worked on washers for years.  When researching equipment for the whole grain transformation, I came across these vids a few months ago.  There is NO WAY IN HADES that I would ever put any type of foodstuffs in a washer. ...
