Tucson 2007: And so it begins...

Thanks everyone, I had an AWESOME time! Thanks Nate for the great step by step driving directions, cooking us breakfast, sharing your machines and letting us drag the Frigidaire out of the shed. My favorite was the Norge. Thanks Roger for sharing your home, the food, the drinks, and letting us...

Laundry room dream (or reality) design

My laundry room is a small hallway at the bottom of the steps between the foyer and the garage, next to the half bath with 2 doors at either end (one to the garage & the other to the foyer). Then there’s a small closet in the laundry room that houses the water heater. I like the location.

Laundry room dream (or reality) design

I think this is the picture you’re talking about, Lawrence. What I’ve noticed about most new homes in Texas is that the washer & dryer are farthest from the bedrooms and off of the kitchen. The laundry would have to be taken through the family room and kitchen. Not the best idea. In most new...

    Notice anything different?

Outstanding washer, Austin, it has the speed selector and everything! It looks like you’ve already taken care of the lid switch. Smart move, and thanks for the clear pictures of the control panel. How is the roll over with the strait vain agitator? Jeff

    Gain Laundry Detergent

Gain HE Powder works just as good as Tide for everyday laundry. Tide is a little better for very dirty clothes (work clothes for a plumber). But Gain HE Powder just disappeared off of the shelves just like everything else that works great. Has anyone seen Gain HE Powder lately?

    Tuscon Wash-In

I want to go! I just found out that I CAN get those days off from work. Is it too late? I would love to go. Would someone please send me the details? ~Jeff

Flea Market Sightings -- GE & Kenmore

You’re a smart man. You where born at night, but it wasn’t l Glenn, I think you did the right thing by haggling with the guy. Surely he is used to it if he works at a flea market. I’ve had a few yard sales myself and no one just pays the marked price. They always ask if you’ll take less. For...

    pre rinsing dishes

Thanks everyone for answering the question about dishes crac The LG is hooked to the cold water line and everything is still coming out GREAT without pre-rinsing. The cycle time is closer to the estimate when the machine is started. When it was hooked to the hot tap it always finished early. No...

    Brand New Maytag MTW5600TQ

It looks like the new Maytag is the old Roper. Well, the Roper does have the best repair history according to Consumer Reports, and that’s the only good thing I can say about it. The bleach dispenser is big, but I hope it’s not the timed bleach dispenser used on the Kenmore line. My neighbor...

    pre rinsing dishes

Cold water hitting hot dishes??????? mrx, that's interesting that your dishwasher uses cold water for some of the rinses. One would think that the cold water hitting the dishes after the hot wash would cause glasses to break. Has anyone ever experienced this? My LG can be connected to the...

    Guess what's back in service?

I’m sure it was a lot of work, but it looks like you had fun, too. Glenn, I don’t get the “delivery of a pink pig”? Austin, we can always count on you to take great pictures, thanks for posting.

I've been wondering about this for awhile, so I'm just going to ask!

Scott, great thread! Chad, thanks for making us laugh! Carol, excuse me, Princess, if it works out w/ Todd does that make you Queen? Wow, 2 Tiara’s? And didn’t I read on here not too long ago that Toggle was going to mail you a pair of panties? You go Princess!

    Pet Washing Machine

Here’s one w/ a dog that doesn’t seem to like it either, but at least the dog is not freaking out. I’m concerned about the animal’s eyes. If it does have soap or a fragrance, then how do they keep it out of the animal’s eyes? Seems cruel. How do they get away w/ it?

I've been wondering about this for awhile, so I'm just going to ask!

Well Scott, since you asked… Dadoes changed his location to just TX and his name disappeared (So I guess I won’t mention it) Westytoploader changed his to Central Texas and his last name disappeared Retromom has always used Texas Y’all (I like that & think it’s neat), her name disappeared and...

    pre rinsing dishes

The detergents w/ enzymes seem to work the best. The enzymes We usually scrape, but NEVER rinse. Always do “Bob Loads” (Over stuffed, but positioned well for maximum efficiency). Set our LG to “normal” w/ strong spray, and Sanitary-Rinse. It uses little water, but heats it to a very high temp...

    new Maytag washers and dryers

Glenn, you’re right about people being unaware of what’s goi They’re unaware about new VS. old, too. My brother & his girlfriend of 4 years had the Maytag LAT9900 (Computer touch model before Maytag made the lid opening wider) that I bought my mom in Feb. 1991, but it was making some noise...

    Heat Pump Frosting - Defrosting

Duuuude! That is so neat how you can lock out the auxiliary heat. It’s defiantly worth letting the compressor work a little longer to get the house up to the set point rather than waist energy and money by using the supplemental electric heat. It sounds like your thermostat has a micro-processor...
