    What led to the demise of combo washer/dryers?

    Electricity wasn't that cheap in the 50's, my father was an electrical engineer! My mother (who had a 1956 Bendix Duo) said the dryer used too much electricity, they bought a dryer and kept the Duo for washing only..., it lasted 30 years!

    Getting very interested in vintage 60's Hotpoints:

    Hotpoint I work at the Detroit VA Hospital, the PX there sells a Hotpoint washer and dryer set. What are these machines? Does anyone know where I can find information about Youngstown Dishwashers? thanks!

    Help! I have a Youngstown dishwasher (with an attached sink!) I will try to attach a picture for you folks. Imagine a metal kitchen cabinet with a sink on one side and a top-opening dishwasher on the other side! It looks good from the outside, but I have no racks for the dishes, I'm not sure...
