Best and safest method for cleaning the inside of a KitchenAid Superba

I would try running a Cascade dishwasher cleaner pod for the inside first. That may clean most of it. For the door seal, I'm not at all sure of the best method, but the Cascade cleaner may help with that too. Just run the hottest cycle with the cleaner pod in an empty dishwasher.

    2003 GE Arctica Profile Coils

Melvin, thanks. I remember seeing that back cover where the water line went in. That must be it.

    2003 GE Arctica Profile Coils

Does anyone know how to access the coils on a 2003 Arctica Profile for a cleaning? They are apparently underneath the fridge, and the owner's manual says absolutely nothing about cleaning them. Would normally give them the occasional vacuuming if they were on the back but I can't access them...

    POD 2.23.22 Gibson Laundry

Hilarious. Almost like a poltergeist at work. Door magnets must not have been very strong.

    POD 2/12/2022

So does anyone know the story behind how Tide convinced the washer manufacturers to pack a box of their product in new washers? Did they pay the manufacturers, or just ship it to them free? And how did they keep competitors from doing the same? Have never seen anything about the back story on...

    Pre-war automatics

Jacobs Launderall Curious if anyone knows whether Jacobs started before the war. The earliest mention I can find for their Launderall is 1947, but the machine design really has a pre-war look to it, like a Bendix.

    White Westinghouse 80s Commercial

Found this on Tumblr today. Just a gif from an 80s White Westinghouse A/C and Refrigerator commercial. Bikini girl hawks A/C unit, LOL! Don't remember ever seeing this on TV, but Westinghouse wasn't much advertised around here in the 80s.

    Frigidaire Cassette Player?

1974 Ad Date I went back and took another look at the original Tumblr post. It was a 1974 ad.

    Frigidaire Cassette Player?

Just found this ad on Tumblr. Never heard of the cassette player in the door before. Did/does anyone have or have seen one of these in the wild before? I can't imagine they sold very many with this feature.

One extinct feature you would revive?

For me, hands-down, it's the lighted control panel on washers and dryers.

    Modern Living: Part Eleven

Cannon 1927 The colors and illustrations in the Cannon Towels ad from 1927 look like something from the 1960s, 40 years ahead of its time.

    1952 Speed Queen Dryer

I came across this ad in a Tumblr site. Couldn't find anything in the archives about vintage Speed Queen dryers. This is from 1952. Has anyone ever seen or had one of these dryers before?

    KAWFFEE

Mr Coffee! Having grown up in the 70s and 80s, I'm sold on good old fashioned MR Coffee machines. Well, ok, actually the newer thermal carafe version since it doesn't cook the coffee into something resembling used motor oil in a few hours. Still hot and fresh after 5 hours. Seattle's Best...

    1975 Kenmore Set

Wow, those look unused. Great find! The beginning of the Sears Space Age "printed circuit" style console. I think '75 was the first year.

    High efficiency Californiaquistan shower heads

Ok, so let me ask this as someone who doesn't live on the Left Coast. Why in the hell has California not gone all-in on desalination when they have the whole Pacific ocean in their back yard? Water has always been an issue there as there's only a finite amount of fresh water available (hence...

Armour Cream of Lard That pail of lard looks like the stuff auto mechanics use as a hand cleaner.

    POD 4/25/2021

So I have to ask about this Westinghouse model. Was this a good machine? I didn't see the name "White Consolidated" anywhere in the ad, so I'm guessing this was before they went downhill. It sure does look like a strong machine. Just wondering how they ran and how long they lasted. Thanks.

    Lady Kenmore Question

LK Name on a Wringer? So I have to ask...how did a wringer washer rate the Lady Kenmore designation in 1961? I would have thought a wringer washer to be the absolute BOL model by '61.

    Look at these beauties

Tea Kettle So did you get the Avocado tea kettle to go with it? Looks like it was never used either.

    Early Whirlpool Automatic.

Wow, congrats. That's a beautiful set. I really enjoy seeing these first-generation automatic machines from the '40s & '50s. Interesting to see what the engineers were thinking way back when.
