    Ozone Dryer Light

Sears scent bottle I remember someone on here had a turquoise 1963 70 or 80 series dryer with an original scent bottle still attached. Did anyone besides Sears use the scent bottles in the dryer?

Exhaust Fan? Dryer ad mentions a "centrifugal type exhaust blower with four-bladed fan". To me, centrifugal blower means squirrel-cage, not bladed. Were there two types of fans on this dryer?

I've always wondered why KitchenAid took so long to add an upper spray arm to their dishwashers. Sears at least had a very good spray tower for their Roto Rack line since it's introduction. Seems like it would have been an obvious next step.

Old Tulsa TV Ads Bruce, I remember in the late 70s and early 80s regularly seeing commercials on Tulsa TV stations for the local Rent-a-Center and other local appliance stores advertising “washer/dryer” or “washer/dryer combo”. I had absolutely no clue what that might mean in those days, but...

    Sears Circling Drain?

Latest article about Sears in USA Today. Apparently the prevailing thought is that they will survive a little longer. Quote from the article: "As much as the company is very poor at retailing, it is very good at financial management to ensure it stays afloat". The reality is that they don't...

The Secret Rooms at School (& maybe other places) I want to discuss!

Airplane Sound Rex, I remember that sound when the blower started up. As I remember, the sign on the wall over the starter button said to push and hold for 20 seconds so it would get enough current going to get up to full speed.

The Secret Rooms at School (& maybe other places) I want to discuss!

Scary Fan About the only thing remotely mysterious about my high school (built in 1931) was an old dirt floored indoor running track under the auditorium no one had used in decades. We didn't even have a boiler room as we got our steam from the Jr High's boiler room next door (built in 1923)...

    "That's not very American."

EDJ & Co How about Edward Jones clowns knocking on every door in the country? They used to be a good firm, many moons ago, but know they are into door to door sales. Who in the heck actually markets securities door to door!? The last one who knocked and ignored my No Soliciting sign, I asked...

    Cook-O-Rama! Part Two

Russian Cuisine OK, I wish there were written recipes for these, but all I can do is point you to this guy's channel. He does include measurements in western units in most descriptions. We'll start with something appropriate for this time of year, ice-cold kompot. Watch his entire cooking...

    Making Salisbury Steak

Looks similar to the Russian recipe for kotlet. Might try soaking your bread crumbs in milk before adding to the mix and see what that does for it.

    Electric vs. Gas Cooking?

My experience has been that gas cooktops cook better than electric because of more even flame heat, but electric ovens cook faster and more evenly than gas. I have a gas cooktop and electric oven, and wouldn't think of trading the electric oven for gas. Seemed to me that the gas dryers in my...

Help with Old GM Frigidaire Refrigerator

1920s tech Square nuts on a 70s fridge? Sounds very 1920s. I would never have guessed they would have used those on a modern appliance.

    Vintage British Washer Television Adverts

Excellent old films. Reminded me of this old British Hoover dishwasher ad. Bonus: the narrator, Rosalind Lloyd, played Queen Xanxia in the Doctor Who serial The Pirate Planet. http://https//www.youtube.com/watch?v=-n8Km0qkj6A

This looks like something you would want on a houseboat or vacation home, but necessarily as a daily driver. I wonder if they worked as well as the Westinghouse Spacemates.

    Atari Video Music

Wow. This is pretty cool. I had no idea Atari made this. Will have to go back and look thru old Sears catalogs online for this now.

    Amway Sa8 Liquid

Noisy disposal I remember in the 70s the local Amway guy coming to the house. My dad bought some garbage disposal cleaners from him. They were small cakes, solid like pumice rock. You dropped one in the garbage disposal and turned it on. Made the damnedest noise, but was supposed to clean...

Let's go shopping 1965 grocery store 'Checker of the Year' and more

Labels I was looking at an article on an old price-label maker catalog from the early 70s. I can remember when every item had its own price label and the stockers had to manually label everything. What a nightmare that must have been, especially if prices were constantly changing, as they...

Just found a 1968 Sears Lady Kenmore washer/dryer set!

Scent Bottle? Picture 13 of the first set. Is that a scent bottle under the dryer lint screen lid like the early 60s models had?

    POD 2-13-17 Caloric Automatic Washer

Small washer Looks like a small washer too. From the ad, maybe waist-high at best. Wonder what the capacity of this machine was.
