    Maytag helical or orbital transmission?

Clothes didn't move for 10 minutes Seriously?? That is not the result I was expecting at all. Are you sure you didn't overload it by chance?

    Maytag helical or orbital transmission?

Oh ok, thanks for the cool info! That older agitator on the second picture is what I'm referring to when I say Shark Fin I. I personally love the noise the Power Flex agitator makes, probably because that's the noise I grew up with. Have you tried it in a pitman tranny?

    1968 Kenmore Electric Dryer

Dryness adjustor behind control panel?!? Whoa I didn't know that was a thing! My grandparents have a Maytag Atlantis dryer that would always leave clothes pretty damp on the auto dry mode. I couldn't figure it out for the life of me, and yes I did try cleaning the sensor. Does this dryer also...

    Maytag helical or orbital transmission?

Not called Shark Fin II? Are you sure? I've seen a few people call this thing a Shark Fin II, but I guess they could be wrong. Did Maytag actually make an agitator called Shark Fin II that I confused for this? My guess would be Power Fin 12, but I'm just gonna call it a 12 vein from now on...

    Maytag helical or orbital transmission?

My Dependable Care with the orbital tranny and Shark Fin II agitator kinda struggles with large loads. Out of the three Maytag single piece agitator designs, I firmly believe that Shark Fin II was the best and I'm willing to bet the reason it struggles with large loads is the short stroke of the...

    Maytag helical or orbital transmission?

I have also seen people call them Newtonian transmissions. I've never seen people call them pitman transmissions until just recently.

    Maytag helical or orbital transmission?

Which of the two Maytag trannies do you guys think is better? Helical has a slow 180 degree stoke, while the orbital has a fast 90 degree stroke. Helical is a traditional tried and true design, while the orbital is extremely simple, only has two gears, and uses less oil. Unless someone has done...

Ok good news! I retentioned the belts and that seems to have fixed the problem.

wiring for A407 to new Part #12002351 drive motor

Did the motor come with its own wiring diagram? Like which wires go to which parts of the coil?

Looking for a Maytag brake removal tool

I am actually very surprised that this thing doesn’t have a clutch... The laundry room is well heated, and I highly doubt the transmission oil is the problem. I am now convinced the problem is the belt tensions, because I simply cannot see it being anything else. I’ll let you guys know tomorrow.

Looking for a Maytag brake removal tool

Yes I’m aware of what the actual brake does, but the assembly seems so large just for a brake. Plus I don’t know where else a clutch could be, and I highly doubt Maytag intended for the belts to just slip instead of using a clutch. The thing is, it was working perfectly fine a few weeks ago...

Looking for a Maytag brake removal tool

The pump and motor glide is perfectly fine. Checked those when I replaced the belts. I’ll check the drive belt tension tomorrow. Question, does the brake assembly also function as a clutch?

Looking for a Maytag brake removal tool

After 27 years, my Maytag Dependable Care LAT4914AAE has had its very first problem. It’s beginning to really struggle to get up to speed on both agitation and spin. My first thought was the belts need to be replaced, but that didn’t work. I know these old Maytag’s inside and out pretty well...

GE Filter Flo transmission rebuild help

I also searched up all the parts you listed, and the only one I was unable to find is WH8x347 drive tube seal. Thankfully the other parts are still available so I’ll go ahead and get them ordered.

GE Filter Flo transmission rebuild help

Sorry I took so long to respond! Been a busy week and haven’t had time to mess with the tranny yet. There doesn’t appear to be any oil actively dripping from the pulley shaft or anywhere else for that matter. Whenever I move it I just notice that there is about a teaspoon of oil on the ground...

GE Filter Flo transmission rebuild help

Hello. I’ve been refurbishing my 86 Filter Flo washed and the last thing I have left to do is that transmission. I’ve never opened up one of these things before, and I honestly don’t know what to expect. It’s been leaking a little bit of oil too and I can’t figure out where it’s coming from. I...

1986 GE Filter Flo — clutch removal

I’ve been looking at it for like 3 days now along with diagrams and pictures of the new one and I’m still no closer to figuring out how to remove it. I’m not trying to take it apart or rebuild it. I just need to figure out how to get the entire clutch assembly off the motor so I can replace it...

1986 GE Filter Flo — clutch removal

Yes, it is quite filthy. Makes identifying the wires by color quite a pain... Unfortunately, even with the pin removed, the outer drum won’t budge.

1986 GE Filter Flo — clutch removal

Several months ago I bought a 1986 GE Filter Flo. Works great! Did some minor restoration on it a while back, and now, being stuck at home with nothing to do, I’ve decided to venture out into no mans land: the clutch. It’s a 2 speed, and I don’t have a flying clue how this thing works. I do know...
