Sunlight Dishwasher Detergent and other TV Ads

Oops, I must have drunk some Sunlight just now! Couple of corrections on my earlier post...Vanna White introduced the Sunlight automatic dishwasher detergent (I left out the verb earlier!) ... and you're right that the lemon juice was ultimately removed in the early '90s, and Sunlight didn't...

Sunlight Dishwasher Detergent and other TV Ads

Sunlight...dimmed but not out yet Sunlight was originally a Unilever brand...and when the dishwashing liquid was introduced in the states in 1982, there were a number of reports of people mistaking the yellow bottle (with "REAL LEMON JUICE" displayed prominently on the label) for, well, real...

    found another one

Nice lookin' Frigidaire... Hey, christfr, my father once had a manual for 1934 model Frigidaire refrigerators--and the one you have looks fairly similar to the ones in the manual. Unfortunately, he got rid of the manual some years ago...damn, bro', I wish I could help you more on that...

Oh, Happy Day (sorry, another off topic)

nothing to see red (Gold or Pack) about! Okay! I stand corrected...I've seen more Red Gold than Redpack in St. Louis... thanks, sudsshane! Charlie bongobro

    Westinghouse Stirring Ranges

The only range that stirs your food for you... I remember seeing commercials for this range about 1966 or '67, which would put it in the time frame of the Consumer Reports article jamiel and Toggleswitch referred to... It was also the first Westy range with the "No-Turn Speed Broil" feature...

futuristic washer & dryer set here!!!

What future? Tell ya what, gocartwasher, those "futuristic machines" your buddy posted remind me of some of the first automatics of the 1930s and 40s! Who knows, maybe these are the next generation Whirltag FLs! Charlie bongobro

    Here we go...

We have Whirltags...so now you have Aripoints? or Hotdesits? That new "Aripoint" front-loader looks like a bloody television set! I keep looking for rabbit ears where the water connections belong! Oh, well...since Frigidaire makes front-loaders for GE in the U. S., if the American Hotpoint...

    New Chlorox commercial

wring wrong? I saw the "timeline" commercial again earlier today, and I thought something looked odd about the first washer...cehalstead, now I know what looked odd... Thanks for noticing! Charlie bongobro

Oh, Happy Day (sorry, another off topic)

Red Gold vs Redpack Red Gold is based in Indiana, and their tomatoes have been sold in the midwest for many years. Not sure if Redpack is a midwestern brand, however... But I prefer Red Gold to Hunt's tomatoes, particularly the spicy ones with the peppers...they make a great add-in for chili...

Isn't Gansky's shower safe from papparazzi?

strange... Some want to go commando when they're out of the showers but wear undies in the showers...go figure...

    Re: More about Bananas:

"never put bananas in the refrigerator?" Oh yes, y Sacto-- The story about never putting bananas in the refrigerator dates back to the time United Fruit Company (now United Brands) launched the "Chiquita Banana" jingle in the 1940s... the line was thrown in because the preceding line of the...

    Tide

How ironic about Tide Lavender and Rose... Makes me think of a print ad for Unscented Tide powder circa 1987: It showed someone dropping a cut-glass bottle marked "PARFUM" into a washing machine full of water -- a full bottle of "PARFUM" -- with one question: "Is there something in your...

    New Chlorox commercial

Clorox through the years Hate to disappoint ya, LaundryShark, but the commercial on the Ultimate Care Bleach page pertains only to Ultimate Care Bleach. Stainfighter is referring to a spot that starts out with an old wood-tub washer, which morphs into a wringer, what looks like a mid-'60s...

Liquid Detergents Leave Laundry Softer. Don't You Find?

Liquids vs powders I don't really notice a difference in softness since I add softener to almost every load. I do know that water in my area is super-hard--and powder detergents in recent years leave a lot of white dusty residue in the washer--and in my clothes--so I haven't used a powder in years!

    OMG!!!!!

Been there, done that...well, not in England anyway! Glad you made it through the temblor okay, seamus... Where I live is on the fringe of what has been the site of one of the major earthquakes of the 19th century...and earthquake experts have said for some 40 years that the New Madrid Fault...

    Kaiser-Frasier Dishwasher on e-bay

"Last onslaught on KitchenAid?" Wonder why Kaiser focused on automatic dishwashers? Since KF had some daring automotive designs in what one writer called the "last onslaught on Detroit," I'm surprised they didn't experiment with automatic clothes washers or other home appliances...

    Brady TV Commercial

Doris Day did it better, man! I don't remember that episode, MikeS, but it sounds like a semi-copy of my favorite detergent movie: "The Thrill of It All" with Doris Day and James Garner... Of course, considering Florence Henderson was all over the place with her Tang and "Wessonality" ads in...

After 6 weeks bobbing across the Pacific

Hope Bendix doesn't sue for name infringement! Hey, jetcone ... funny coincidence with DuoMatic detergent for your Duomatic! Must be a peculiarly British phenomenon to add --"matic" to the name of an existing detergent brand. I saw "DriveMatic" in one of the pictures of an Australian...

    Happy Birthday....

'58 was a great year... You realize that the cover washer of AW.com is a 1958 Frigidaire Custom Imperial "Ultra-Clean" automatic washer ... so you picked a great year, Ron! Belated congrats--and big fives from the bongobro! Charlie

    The Price is Right

two in too ... many... Chuck Woolery...ugh!!! Besides he's tied up with the sixth season of "Lingo" which just started a couple weeks ago... another St. Louis connection--Shandi Finnessey, co-host, originally Miss USA 2004, is originally from Florissant, Missouri (a suburb) of St. Louis...
