When did Maytag start to go bad?

Jerome, call me unapologetically shameless but this is about the most complicated I am willing to go with a top load washer in my laundry room. Compared to what is out there, this design is even simpler than most BOL machines. Despite the busy fascia, the push buttons are merely a wash and...

Why Modern Cars Need Master Switches

Ok so I updated the link because the Reddit one was taken down. My apologies ahead of time if this link goes down as well.

Why Modern Cars Need Master Switches

I've been saying it for some time, but I do not believe in drive by the wire. At least not without master kill switches that drop electricity directly going to the ignition, drive motor and a gas shutoff ball valve in the fuel supply line. Along with a manual string driven backup emergency...

When did Maytag start to go bad?

To be very honest and blunt this would be my ideal washing machine: If everyone was like me this specific model would have already sold in the millions.

    Maytag Atlantis Electronic Timer

That was the first application of electronics in dryers. However instead of just controlling the timer motor on the sensor dry cycle (which can be over ridden in timed dry) this dryer decides to take it to way to far by controlling the heater, temperature cycle, buzzer, motor, ect where a simple...

    Maytag Atlantis Electronic Timer

Indeed you are correct. And such failures are a given with electronics. You do know that a dryer can indeed be this simple with auto dry as seen below? Not a single semi conductor.

    Maytag Atlantis Electronic Timer

Whirlpool did the same thing, they are not any better: https://appliantology.smugmug.com/Appliantology/Whirlpool-Dryer-Even-Heat/i-mZQcdRW/A All a dryer has to do is tumble, add heat, and cycle via a a snap disc thermostat. Yet somehow despite the presence of an EM timer, they had to add a...

When did Maytag start to go bad?

And add to the fact that Electrolytic capacitors literally have a shelf life. So the moment you purchase anything electronic its the equivalent of purchasing a fruit or vegetable. It will go bad just sitting there no matter how pretty it looks.

    Maytag Atlantis Electronic Timer

Call me confused, but I've never seen this. The timer appears to be electronic on the back, however it looks like a standard clock dial on the front. Am I seeing this correctly? Does the knob move with the cycle? Just doesn't look like an electronic dial normally does with its individual...

Dry Agitate With Basket Full of Clothes

That is neat. My 2013 Speed Queen will not agitate unless the pressure switch is satisfied in every position on the timer. I wish timed fills could've been extended to perforated baskets. Let the machine fill for 4 or 5 minutes then switch to agitate. Let the pressure switch open when...

An Interesting Lesson About Replacing Motors

Lets just say I fantasize about some seriously oversized, over engineered motors in appliances. Anyway, you are a wealth of knowledge and information. Thank you for sharing this with us!

    Kenmore Slim Washers

Can you post pics of the 24 inch GE FF machine? I'd love to have on of those. 24inch machines should have stayed in production. There is demand for them based on their size and of course lower cost.

Dry Agitate With Basket Full of Clothes

Thats what I was looking for, thank you! :) In that in the least it won't destroy the machine! Robert, I think if I am not mistaken 90% of your washers will start agitating automatically if the timer is set to far out. Am I correct?

Dry Agitate With Basket Full of Clothes

That is good to know. I drew up a concept for a timed fill washer and wondered what would happen if the user set it right to agitate.

Dry Agitate With Basket Full of Clothes

What happened to the clothes and to the machine?

Dry Agitate With Basket Full of Clothes

Whirlpool washers had a dry agitate test increment. I've never tried it while the washer was full of clothes. But it has gotten me thinking- what happens if you were to set a top load washer to agitate without water, while full of dry clothes? What would happen to the machine? I'm thinking of...

I like the washer. Wish they still made the center dial in the dependable care design in a full lineup.

    Most Unique Washer Control Panel

Of course, however I feel there are other very relevant reasons to warm rinsing. Well, define cold. Cold can be 75*F or 32*F. I don't dispute modern detergent having the ability to function in 72*F water however I'd like to see some concrete evidence based results when dealing with anything...

    Kenmore Slim Washers

Does anyone know the capacity of a 24 inch DD vs a 27 inch DD? The thing is Whirlpool could technically offer 5 sizes of washers today with the DD design: A portable size, a small thin twin size, a large thin twin size, a 24 inch and a 27 inch. Except everything would have a back control...
