when my mom got her early 86 maytag washer, boy she found that lid switch fast, she used to put a credit card in between the lid and the switch. and to hold the lid up she would put a tide bottle on the bleach despencer and rest the lid on the bottle so she could watch it.

the westinghouse is ok for it to do that i had a 1974-75 machine that did that,and i have an 80s white westinghouse machine with the ramp agitator and it fills right up to the tub ring

i just bought a 1977 to 1979 (not sure what year)a608 from craigslist yesterday for $30 and it makes a spin noise.its not the bearing noise because i know what that sounds like.everyone with an older maytag that i know has that sound.its not all the time and its louder as you have the lid...

i thought so too but in canada they may be different,the filter is probably original too.
