    Vintage (1964) Coldspot Fridge Death

Ok, I am willing to do the work. I'm an ASE certified mechanic with auto A/C tools and home/auto electrical knowledge. I sweat copper pipes with ease. I've looked at (what I'd consider) donor candidates on Craigslist. So has anyone here done this and created a thread? Do newer fridges use...

    Vintage (1964) Coldspot Fridge Death

Long story short, low voltage at my house (85v +/-) left my grandmother's fridge doing nothing but blowing hot air. Luckily it didn't kill my Frigidaire. I'd like to get it working for both sentimental and practical reasons (need to take the Frigidaire down for its annual "cannot deal with...

Kitchenaid KDS-19 in TN - Free to good home

95+ furnace allows you to vent with PVC pipe through the basement wall, so that plus a power-vent water heater allows me to be rid of the entire chimney. Trust me, if you ever want to make your house unbelievably filthy, knock down your chimney! But it was worth it... I gained a bunch of floor...

FREE - R.C.A. Oak TV/Stereo Console - FREE! (Fargo, ND)

Phil(s)? I believe I might have mixed up who helped with my Fridgidaire lo those many months ago... But either way, I have more than enough sets (including hybrid and Chromacolor II Zeniths) to hook you both up. Glad to send them to good homes.

Kitchenaid KDS-19 in TN - Free to good home

Thanks. Also allows me to see who is at the side door. Chimney used to be where the DW is before I went to a 95+ furnace.

FREE - R.C.A. Oak TV/Stereo Console - FREE! (Fargo, ND)

If you'd like a nice Zenith combo unit, I have a few you can choose from in the Detroit area! (And they work!) Same price as the RCA. Consider it thanks for your help with my fridge.

Kitchenaid KDS-19 in TN - Free to good home

You can see I already have a 19, but it's pretty beat up and would be better as parts to back yours up.

Just in case it should go to your spam box, I also sent an email. This would be just what I need for my vintage kitchen remod.

    Real Estate Ethics Question

Just to answer some of the questions that have been raised: The vacant lots are within a middle-class, fully-developed and established Detroit suburb. Each year, a city government has the first-right-of-refusal to purchased tax foreclosed properties within their city from the county for the...

    Real Estate Ethics Question

"It sounds like the municipality was short-changed in the sale of the lots," That's exactly the issue. How can the city be sure the highest and best offer was made when the buyer and selling agent do business together after the sale? By all definitions of "arms length" I can find, they prohibit...

    Real Estate Ethics Question

Let's say a real estate agent is granted the exclusive right to sell vacant lots for a municipality. One of the conditions for sale of the property is that a new home must be constructed within one (1) year. The new homes are built and in each case, the same agent is now the selling agent for...

HVAC Brands of the Past. Where are they now?

Chrysler sold it's Air-Temp brand to Fedders (residential) but they did keep the factory in Dayton, OH. It kept building auto A/C components (no compressors after '80) until it was sold to Behr in 2002. (Gee, imagine that... Daimler sells off former Chrysler assets in sweetheart deals to other...

Who in Australia remembers this old detergent?

No J,K or a few other letters (Y?) in the Italian alphabet if I recall correctly... I remember asking my Grandfather how could they have a K-mart in Italy when I made this shocking discovery... Like it would rip a hole in the space-time continum if my cousin couldn't comprehend where we bought...

    Starting the New Year w/Flair

Thanks all for the kind words. Of course with use, a minor issue has revealed itself. The fluorescent 36" bulb has started to cycle on/off rapidly (not rapidly enough to call it a "flicker"). Some reading on the interwebs said "replace the starter w/the bulb". Then I learned a 25W bulb...

    Starting the New Year w/Flair

Just to mention... You'll see some "before" kitchen remod pics at the first link (I keep them hosted elsewhere, so I don't know how to add them here). The floor/baseboard/toekicks are not done because I'm still remoding other parts of the house and don't want to trash up a new floor. That's just...

    Starting the New Year w/Flair

UPDATE Well, I'm basically done, lol. Took the thing much further apart than I had planned but all for the better. If you want to read the whole story, I went more in depth at this site: http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=8384209&an=0&page=0#Post8384209 (I like...

    Starting the New Year w/Flair

Another photo. It looks awful in these pics, in fact the top heating element has a thin metal piece with some rust, but it's really not in bad shape. Pretty sure it should all work, I tried everything real quick when I bought it 2 years ago... Been indoors ever since.
