    Moving a Bendix Duomatic

People are way too precious over transporting front-loading washing-machines. My current Miele was transported on its back, and getting it from the car to the kitchen entailed it getting turned over arse-over-tip multiple times. At no point were transport bolts inserted. It suffered no damage...

    Wash-in Attendance Check!

Pardon my ignorance... but what is Metamucil, and what do you use it for?!

Ford To Abandon Most of Their Car Line

The L405 Range Rover is an all-aluminium unibody... guess what? It's still upwards of 2.2 tons... unibody doesn't necessarily mean light! And why are today's FWD barges bigger than the RWD ones they replaced? A Ford Mondeo/Fusion is now bigger than the old RWD Scorpio!

Ford To Abandon Most of Their Car Line

Whatever happened to the big RWD American body-on-frame sedan? The Crown Vic seemed to be the last of that breed, but I've got a weird fetish (as a Brit!) for a Buick Roadmaster with the LT1 V8... especially in wagon form! Could they not build those off the truck chassis as just another...

    50's Frigidaire Imperial Filtrator

I'm guessing the old insulation is asbestos...

    Pittsburgh Wash-In 2018!

Must admit I've always preferred this version.

    50's Frigidaire Imperial Filtrator

That simple? So is there anything to choose between solid/perforated drums?

    50's Frigidaire Imperial Filtrator

What is it that makes the Filtrators so good at getting towels fluffy? Perforated drum surface?

Help with vandalized piano key kenmore

I'm not a paid-up member of the forum so can't view ATTT. Another forum member kindly bought me a month's membership back at Christmas, but in the end I hardly used the premium features, and regretted ever going near Dirty Laundry, so have not renewed.

Help with vandalized piano key kenmore

Uh-oh... ...washer drama in the Imperial forum! Personally, I don't feel it's helpful to make oblique references to others' personal lives in such a manner as combo52 has...

    Smart People

I live in a fairly ordinary 3-bedroom semi-detached suburban house south of London, but it was built in 1903-4 and, firstly, it's built VERY solidly, and secondly, there's a pleasant 'rightness' to it, no unnecessary ornament, no ostentation, no pretentious bullshit. Sadly, just the other side...

That place is such a McMansion. It needs at least a radical remodelling (if not total replacement) by this chap... http://www.benpentreath.com

    Pittsburgh Wash-In 2018!

Is this Imperial or Dirty Laundry?!

    european washer agitation

Reversing action prevents tangling, and may also result in improved washing action.

They're Out! Miele W1 Washer and T1 Dryer

Have to say, I'm not a fan! They look like all the other plastic crap out there, even though they'll be better-built than most. Are the classic-styled Little Giant machines still in production? Stick with those while you can!

Thinking of going Commercial with my next washer

There are various fast-spinning soft-mount commercial options - ADC (American Dryer Corp?) makes a range of them, there's Continental-Girbau (made in Barcelona), Electrolux, the various Alliance brands (Speed Queen/Huebsch/Unimac etc), and Miele if you've got deep pockets. Hard-mount machines...

    New washing machine recommendations needed

The latest Mieles hold an 8kg load, big enough for most families!

    ASKO Professional Home Laundry

I really wish I could find the old style Askos like chestermikeuk's set! Far nicer than the newer machines - they remind me of the old 60s/70s AEGs. What Bendix lacked a door boot? Never seen one, unless you're referring to the old bolt-down machines.

New WP and GE stackable washer line up

    *TLers! Whoops...

Are these "real" Maytag designed/built machines?

I get the impression that most complaints about the Northstar are essentially "but why does it need four camshafts? Muh ol' Chevy did just fine with one! Gimme back muh pushrods!".
