Large Chambers Range -- Too Large for Doorways

UPDATE: I do not know how, but my son did get a man who restores ranges to move that stove to his shop in Michigan where he will restore it. I am looking forward to seeing it when it is completed--maybe in six months.

Large Chambers Range -- Too Large for Doorways

Man, that red Chambers is gorgeous, Joshm! My son has not given up on getting that range, but he also has not figured out how to get it through the too small doorways.

Large Chambers Range -- Too Large for Doorways

That Magic Chef six burner is a beautiful stove. I love its style with the oven on the side, and another, I guess, below. I would enjoy seeing that in person. And, I would really like to see the Chambers in person.

Large Chambers Range -- Too Large for Doorways

Thanks, Ralph, for your comment! M son did some further research, and the stove is actually 35 1/2 inches wide, but that includes knobs and the oven doors, which can be removed. I don't know if there is anything, like the back panel, in the back that can be removed. The two 30" doorways it...

Large Chambers Range -- Too Large for Doorways

Hi All, Not long ago there was a post about a very large commercial Chambers range that was in a house for sale in Pennsylvania. One of my sons had just bought an older, large home in Chicago, and I sent him the photo of that Chambers range because I thought it matched his home. He has...

General Electric GE Automatic Ironer Vintage

I have that same buck press ironer in much better condition, and I will give it to whomever will come to get it so long as the person is not scrapping it. The last time I used it, seven years ago, it worked perfectly. Give me a call or text (805-720-6178). George

    Scorching & Ironing Boards.

This is a long shot, but spend a little time looking for a vacuum ironing board. I found a vacuum ironing board at a garage sale about six years ago. I did not even know such a thing existed, but I do now. Anyway, I bought it for $10.00, and it led me to a steam generator iron, which I found...

Lee Maxwell's Wringer Washer Museum in Eaton, Colorado

Hi All, Has anyone here visited Lee Maxwell's Wringer Washer Museum in Eaton, Colorado? I have decided to do that the first part of May, and I wondered if anyone on this site had seen it and had any advice. Thanks, George

What kind of kitchen ventilation do you like???

In one house (in a very temperate area of California, I removed the motor from a 48" ceiling vent hood which had been illegally vented to the large attic space. I had a vent run through the roof and had a restaurant size motor and fan installed on the roof. It was not pretty (only visible from...

    Ironrite from Kansas City

#18.  I think it is called the forming board--or something like that.   Forgot the name of this piece. The part you lay the fabric on before it goes in the machine.

Antique GE dishwasher in original wooden crate - $50

Gee, that brings back memories. When I was growing up, we had a portable, round GE dishwasher--maybe the same as that one.  I was probably 4--6 years old, and already I was interested in kitchen appliances.   The top was painted, not porcelain, and when it got hot during use, the paint could...

    Round ceiling diffusers

The house my folks built in 1959 had them.  I was tall and could reach them to adjust the airflow.  I remember being told that they were on the ceiling because cold air fell (though it is probably more that hot air rises).      I liked their looks too. The house was lath and plaster.  I can...

Maytag Model 30WP (1935) wringer washer restoration...

The information and details of your restoration were so interesting to read.   I would have loved looking over your shoulder during the process. There was a time when I dreamed of doing something like that (and I had a model 90, given to me by the original owner), but although I had that...

What is the best washer you have had?

Miele W1203, about seven years old now, and the repairman has never been called. On the sanitize cycle, T shirts that had arm pit stains eventually came completely clean with Persil Universal powder. Relatives give me stained cotton garments to run through this machine, and it almost always...

Miele S558 Vacuum with Power Head

I found this Miele S558 (in Mystic Gray color--not the red in the photo) vacuum with Power Head on craigslist. The owner said that it had been used for a year and then put into storage, which may be true as it looks little used. The electric power head works, but the mechanism that releases the...

Best Range Top Surface: Stainless Steel or Black Porcelain?

Hey, Gentlemen, thanks so much for the input! I should tell my friend about the glass top option. One of my sons has an older black glass top Dacor with sealed burners, and it is a chore to keep clean. I have thought about taking oven cleaner to it. ps. Ralph, I liked seeing the personal...

Best Range Top Surface: Stainless Steel or Black Porcelain?

I have a friend who is going to buy a 30" freestanding gas range. So, first of all, do you have any brand preferences? Second, he has a one year old Samsung stainless steel refrigerator that is on the same wall as his range is, so the new range could match the refrigerator. It looks like the...

    Grey ghost Maytag with pump

I had a model 90, given to me by the woman who bought it new in 1928, that came with a removable bar that ran across the wringer front, right along where the top and bottom wringer rollers met. It was to help you feed the clothes into the wringer. I thought it was so cool.

    New Kitchen Aid Blender

What does magnetic drive mean, anyway? Is there no belt? What will matter is how it compares to a Vitamix.
